b16 head help........

I need some help I bought a b16 head from a friend of mine for my ls vtec set up he said he purchased the head on a lsvtec motor he bought it for $500 I believe the guy needed money to paint his car so he sold him the lsvtec motor that cheap the valve cover was painted like a cast iron color and had HELLO in red and white if you are that person who had that head or know who it is plz let me know I need some info on the head.

what info do you need? you do understand that chance are, your not going to find the previous owner correct?
thousands of b16 heads out there and valve covers are transferable

I just need to find out how the prepared it for ls vtec as far as what they did to it to because a bout some golden eagle lsvtec dowel pins annd they are to small on the head part

Just look and see if its tapped, and the fitting is in the head ????

to make this more clear, are you attempting to make a lsvtec or no? your sentences barely make sense.

as far as the dowel pins
lsvtec dowel pins have 2 different ends, one end is bigger than the other to adapt the vtec head onto the non vtec block ( they are different size between vtec and non vtec )
* you dont NEED them, they are for aliment. if your using head stud, you dont need aliment. if you are using bolts. dowel pins would help*
Though dowel pins are fairly cheap, dont lowball your self either.



highly suggest doing some homework before attempting this. I'm building a lsvtec myself, waiting on oil line and arp studs and im complete.
I HIGHLY suggest a rebuild of at least the bottom end before doing lsvtec. worn out bottom end with a new boost of compression can lead to disaster.

Good info but I need to know bout the dowel pins on the head because I bought a set of golden eagle dowel pins and the part that's suppost to go into the head is to small for it but I think the drilled the head for stock dowel pins because they was using b16 head bolts am rebuilding the bottom end and using type r high compression piston

LS blocks use 14mm dowel pins. If the conversion dowel pins' small end is too small for the head, they probably drilled the head to accept the LS dowel pins. In that case you would need to get regular LS dowel pins for your setup.
