driving my crx today cruising at apprx 3500rpm
my car started to spit n sputter then stalled and would NOT CRANK BACK UP
removed distributor cap to find out that the set screw backed out
and rotor was not anchored in place, found screw put it all back together
she cranked RIGHT up and immediately CEL came on!! and car will only rev to 4000rpm ((almost like a safety measure)) like when you reach redline and the car will only fire every other time ,best way i can desribe is ((whaaa whaaa whaaa whaaa)) sooo checked ECU im getting 8bleeps ,from what i googled means TDC (Top Dead Center) code .... i removed neg termional for 2-3 mins, now I turn on ign and I get NOOO CEL ... UNTILLLL i try to crank and before motor even fired up CEL light is back on and still only 4000k revs

any input guys

sounds like you need a new dizzy or get one you can borrow and see if it goes away

Just Seems weird that the dizzy would shit
The bed , just because the the rotor key
came out.............. Wonder if the screw
touched and arced something out

And you guys have to bring me up to speed
....... Replace the WHOLE dizzy?? Or like the
coil pack thing inside it??

Replacement is like 150, regardless the dizzy is 20yrs old so it's worth it in the end.. Site had some good info so that's why I posted a link!!

1990 civic wagon,, fired right up works
Like a charm.... NOW for the old dizzy

i would keep it in case you need to buy a dizzy for a another civic you can use it for a core charge

Keep it, 90% of the parts are interchangeable, and you still have the two pieces that commonly go bad. Coil, ICM
