Help me understand this obsession with buying wheels too wide for your car and then slanting them sideways to make them fit under your fender well. I'm not against using camber to make a wheel fit, but i honestly dont understand why (mostly the 240 crowd) people put like 10inch rims on the front of their car and camber them in.

To me it looks gay as shit, but it seems like 99% of people like it. Am i just getting old and have reached that point where i dont know what is cool anymore? is this the day my grandparents told me would come??

CoNfuSeD?!?!?!

Examples -

This car looks pretty good, but why is it cool for your front wheels to be wider and more cambered than your rear wheels?

do these wheels not fit???

this car isnt low enough?

is this guy doing it right?

If your car can drive over the reflectors on the road is it too high? if your wheels actually fit in your fenders are they too small? if youre not willing to remove parts of your suspension to go lower are you a pussy?

help me understand this.

You do have a valid point. Personally i think it looks good but then again i wont do it on my car again. its not practical and serves no purpose other than to be "different". which isn't exactly different if everyone is doing it. to each his own but id like my car to perform well more than look pretty.-chase

i think a lot of it looks good, but it seems like everyone trying to 1-up the next guy has created a fad where there's no such thing as low enough or wide enough.

yeah, i dont get it. I look at that car and think "OMFG that is perfect"....

That car would get ripped apart by most of the people on the nissan forum. if your bumper isnt dragging the ground and your rims rubbing a hole in your fender, they dont like it.

I'm with ya on this, some of it looks good, but others I just don't get, don't think i'd ever own a car that I'd want to do this new fad to

I am all about pure function in my rides. I could understand if it was a "show" car but for practical purposes, its fuking pointless and retarded.

I would only change the exhaust on that white coupe. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.

I dont understand it. I feel like an italian watching jersey shore sometimes being a 240sx owner. as much as i like the cars, i certainly dont fit in with the drift crowd.

Although I have to admit that Silvia looks good sitting like that.

As far as 240's go, most of the "oni-camber" comes from the drift world; the less tire you have touching the ground, the easier to slide (generally) it is. This practice has evolved into a style that has largely blending into the stance movement. Running camber allows to run larger wheels and get lower. No it's not functional (your definition), it doesn't improve grip, and it doesn't improve handling. It's a style choice. It makes perfect sense and serves its intended function.

No one actually cares if your car sits higher, or if you have fender gap. Do what you like.

It's just a dumb trend, nothing more to it. If it ever had a real purpose it has been forgotten.

i think cars look better without dark tinted windows, but i also dont want anyone looking at me, so i tint my windows.
