View Full Version : Sports are the Gators this year's sleeper?

Auburn came out nowhere last year after a staff overhaul. Cam Newton wasnt on anybodies radar prior to last season. Florida has a bunch of talent and what should be a very experienced senior QB in command of an offense that is finally suited to his strengths.....

question is.... could Florida be a sleeper for the title? or will the SEC gauntlet be too much?

Mini-Tebow thinks so

No. Brantly doesn't quite have the composure for the big shit just yet. Look how he has responded in this Tennessee game after just a little pressure. Maybe next year, but this being his first season with this type offense he will need time to adjust.

yeah, i think i made this post a little early into the Tennessee game. Every time i think Brantley is going break out, he slaps me down with mediocrity.

Yeah........ Tennessee is pretty terrible, this game was suppose to be a showcase for Florida. Still early in the season, probably better they find out they have a lot to work on vs Tennessee, because finding that out vs LSU or Bama wont be as forgiving.

Florida has some serious athletes but I don't think Brantley is quite there. He just can't stay composed.....but I do think he's capable of making all the throws we need to be successful. I'm looking forward to this season setting up some great(hopefully at least) years to come. Jeff Driskel is a fuckin manchild he should be very productive as a starter someday.

^^^ I fixed myself something to eat and was settling in at the computer for a few when I looked over at the TV and saw the Florida score. I sat down and clicked straight into this thread to post that they were putting a "hurtin' on the Wildcats. Then I saw you're mention of them. Later, QD.

they certainly look good so far

FSU looked a little deflated today though, got beat up by Oklahoma.

I'm not expecting a sleeper team to be in the title game by any means, but I do expect to see Clemson in the top 5-6 by the end of the season.

God damn I love Demps and Rainey. How they will hold up against Bama/LSU could be a different story though.

It's gonna be on Brantley if we beat Bama, the chink in their armor is the pass defense. Looked like the passing game was gonna get going tonight before the injuries.

Well with guys like Demps and Rainey all you have to do is find ways to put them in open space, the percentage of missed tackles they will get in one on one situations is probably absurd. And once that first guy misses, who fuckin knows how many yards they will gain. I just don't see us doing too much work between the numbers against Bama or LSU. Who knows maybe Brantley will live up to his full potential I certainly wouldn't mind that.

I'm starting to seriously worry, but it's hard to judge too much off losses to #1 and #2 without your QB.
