sooo... i have a bone stocc automatic 00 civic ex wit vtech, only changes were an intake and headers. the gear lights on the dash started blinking n the car died. a friend said its the computer for the transmission n i was like huh? recently a mechanic checced it and said the same thing... any1 know anything about these things because i dont and im just wondering before i go and buy stuff i dont need

They are controlled via the ECU, I would check cel etc, see whats going on with transmission sensors.

check engine lights

sounds like a neutral safety switch try cranking it in neutral

i did it, no difference. i turned the car around and it went into gear fine just wouldnt move like it should in drive

In civics 88-2000 the automatic controls are controled through the ECu, where as integra (up to 01) and accord automatic(up to 96) have a TCm, a separate controler for the transmission.

with sluggish pickup, no snatching, it sounds like the transmission pump/torque converer is going out. once this begins to fail, it is best ot replace with a used transmission or rebuild it by a reputable shop.
