Because that shit is annoying & Funny..

Im not saying this because I had to work.. ( worked almost every holiday for the last 10 years )

But why is it such a big deal?

To me I dont care....

I know some will say " spend time with family" yada yada yada.. whootie dooo...

Or time to rest and just chill? So what you do on your days off then? Or is it because you havent been able to keep a job long enough to earn vacation yet ?

Holidays is just another day for me.. and since I spend alot of time on the road, Im kinda glad, Less idiots driving.

I actually enjoy working on holidays..... I even picked up an extra shift yesterday since I am getting paid time and a half... I absolutely HATE working on Fridays tho...

I have worked every holiday, I dont care about working it either, bc half the time I do have to work I get paid time and a half, so I don't care at all. Shit I wouldn't be doing anything else anyways besides sleeping. I go out at night not really during the day.

Christmas is the only holiday I really care about(because of my son). Most of them I dont. We get our birthday off with pay but I usually work it (holiday pay is double time and a half). That kind of money will motivate damn near anybody to work any holiday. This year I worked Labor Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Easter.

Alot of people like to celebrate the holiday and get it off, to rest, celebrate, and spend time w/ loved one's. Some people just hate the thought of being at work while everyone else is partying there asses off all over town lol.

I don't like working on the holidays because there isn't shit to do and I'm bored out of my mind. Since we work with the schools and the schools are out, I just sit there, but since the market is open, I have to be there.

I guess it depends on your job. My last job was working for Verizon Wireless. In retail, you know there are only three holidays you get off a year (Easter, Thanksgiving, X-mas). Sometimes it's nice to not have to work a holiday when you know there's going to be little/no business, but sometimes it's good to get paid double time if you work. Depends on the holiday as well...like I know the 4th of July is big for some people to go BBQ and get shitfaced or whatever...but there are definitely some holidays that aren't worth having a day off (Labor Day?).

I want to be off for x mas, because it's not only a holiday... to me, it's the most important day of the year. If I had to wk thanksgiving, I could live with it I suppose. I did when I wked in retail, and it sucked ass...

I'm salaried so no extra pay wich is no big deal anyways. I guess because I earn 4 vac a year it doesnt bother me.

I think holidays is just another lame excuse not to work...

I'll tell you whay I like having holidays off. Besides Thanksgiving and Christmas, I am off on New Year's Day, MLK Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day. On thanksgiving and Christmas, we don't work at all. The other 6 holidays, most of our stores are open and I can volunteer to work like I would on Saturday. On Saturday, all I do is go to about 6-7 grocery stores and make sure the shelfs have product on it. Takes about 3 hours and I get $150 extra. So, on holidays, not only am I off and get paid for that day twice, I get to do the same thing as I do on Saturday and get another $150.

It looks like this:

Regular week: M-F....base pay + commission + Saturday($150)
Holiday week: M-W&F(off Thurs)....base pay + commission x2 + Thursday($150) + Saturday($150)

So I like having holidays off, so that I can work and make even more. Lolol. Also, I get 5 weeks vacation so I'm good. Later, QD.
