changing icons in XP

can someone tell me how i can change around my icons?? i know i've done it before but i can't figure it out anymore...or can it just not be done anymore??

Open a windows explorer window, then...

Tools, Folder Options, File Types

Then pick the file type you want to change the icon for.

Then click advanced, then browse for the correct icon (.ico file)

i guess that's how i did it before but i don't think i can do what i want to do that way...

basiclly i have winamp playlists of CD's and i'm trying to find a way to have a thumbnail of the CD as the icon...just click the cd i want to hear and it starts to play, anyone know if there is a way to do this??
