I was comin from my girl's house in Lawrenceville on Thanksgiving night and I see this red 2004-05 M3. I've always wanted to race one of these plus it's one of my favorite cars. It looks stock as i could tell and me i have a mildly built block b16a2 with a garrett t3/t04e pushing around 298whp.

The race:
We did a race from 80-130. I'm in 3rd gear, did 3 honks and were off. He gets the initial jump from the little bit of lag i had. I stopped it pretty quick as through 4th gear i was reeling him in and was side by side with him. 5th gear comes and i'm pulling on him. By the time i shut down at 130 I had about a car lead on him. I was really impressed on how my car performed and the guy gave me a thumbs up. My first really good kill with my car.

good job man. Next time brake boost and you wont have that lag. I tried it and works great.

doesnt sound like a stock M3 either, with those #'s (assuming your powerband is decent, and good gearing) you should destroy a stock M3 fairly easy.

was this a red m3 with the big BBS 19's-20's?

It was red but as far as rims goes they looked stock. I didn't ask what mods he had.

Are you pushing 298WHP or do you assume? What's your torque? HP don't mean anything.

here's a dyno graph give or take i'm very close to 300whp.

Heh nice A/F line. I'm sure that M3 was stock and here is why.

333 hp @ 7900 rpm
262 ft-lbs @ 4900 rpm

While SIpimpin is making

298WHP@8000rpms
201TQ@6800 rpms

Assuming the M3 is making 280-285WHP and 240-225TQ and both cars with no xtra weight in them I can see the civic pulling 1 1/2 cars on the M3.

Edit: What psi are you running??

I'm running at 17.2lbs because of an ineffecient turbo due to the need of a rebuilt. But for now i'm running this setup till i have enough money for a Garrett GT30R.

Wuz up yes it was me my M3 not stock but only intake , Chip and Exhaust ... well making only about 295 WHP ..... any I was with my gir in the car and u where alone and that civic is so light ... compare to my M3 3400 pounds any way i dont remeber u PULLING on me in any gear ???

ALL the time we raced ..... i was in the front. ... but if u making 297 WHP .... that eas some poor preformance for 297 WHP on a SI.

Haha ur right man it is poor performance, cus my turbo is getting a rebuilt next week. We had one good run and thats what I posted the other ones we werent even beside each other. Good run though, I'm just happy I could take a M3. I haven't ran my car at the track at my current setup. Hopefully will meet again and run from like 60-65 roll. Till next time Peace.

I think BestBuy has some sales on miniDV camcorders... everyone who actively participates in the kills sub-forum should pick one up.

We dont beleive its a Turbo problem due to the motor has always smoked since day 1 of his build(we didnt build it), and after 1 rebuild on another turbo, the symptoms are the same. I beleive it was improper piston to wall clearance and/or too big of a ring gap.

But we are goign to rebuild the turbo for him first at his request to see if it will fix his "oil consumption" problems.

IMO, a b16 with rods an pistons and a STOCK intake manifold at 10-12psi shouldnt be making over 300whp. Usually 1.8l make that much, not 1.6l. i really hope seth invests in a JG manifold, there is prob a good 20-30whp + gain with less boost in its design

Haha, AD your funny. I already plan to upgrade my intake manifold and build the head. Since I changed my oil feed line from a -4 to -3 line i haven't been smoking. Although the turbo is a need for a rebuilt as I already told Charles the details when I pulled it out the week before. 1
