I have a EE 1990 wagon ((AUTOMATIC))

The stock d15 blew a head gasket at 175k

Here what I'm thinkin buy a v-tech d16z6
And convert the car from obd0 to obd1

My mechanic says "let's just rebuild the d15 that's in
the car and have new fresh motor with no problems"
And this will end up costing me 1100-1400ish

I'm was leaning more toward the VTECH 1.6
But I'm wondering wiitch way I should go AND
how difficult would it be to convert, will someone
Tell me what I'll need! From the research I've done
Looks like I'll need jumper harness a obd1 ECU
((not sure which one I need because my car is an
automitic)) for that matter do ECU differ from manual
to auto????????

Is someone could tell me what I need to buy
That'd be awesome..... And whata you guys think
(1)rebuild the d15 and leave obd0
(2)go foreword with d16 odb1

Ohhhhhh and also... If I go obd1 can I keep/use
The factory auto tranny that's already in my car

And one last thing!! If I buy all needed parts
For d16/obd1 upgrade , shoot me a price you'd
Charge me for the swap

And from what I've read I have to run a few wires which dosent seem overly complicated
Thanks in advance for your input guys , Ive been told 0bd1 is a much better system vs obd0
But at the end of the day I want RELIABUILTY and fuel economy ,butttttttttttttt
Having the luxury of VTECH when I need to pass ppl would be nice ;-)
Thanks again guys .... Pllzzzz give me your input

It's really easy to wire up, but if you've never done it then you can find write-ups online.. I'd love to type the how-to, but my typing skills suck and I don't have pics to explain...LOL
