Hey guys. I have question maybe someone can help me with. I have been looking at the ALPINE SPS-600 for my car. I am using 200w max head unit. Will I be able to run these speakers loud?

Power Handling Capacity (RMS): 80 Watts
Power Handling Capacity (Peak): 240 Watts

Those are the specs on the speakers. I am looking for good audio quality without having to go the route of using an amp to power the speakers. Any ideas? Maybe better speakers out there for me? I need a 2 way.

Hey,

Headunits typically only put out 16 to 22rms watts per channel. Those speakers running directly off the headunit will sound good, but not a night and day difference over stock speakers unless you stock speakers were completely gone. If you want to hear the true potential, you will need to amp the speakers. This goes for any speakers you put in there.

I wanted to add that I got these and put them in last night. Sound is loud, what would amp do for me? At this point I cant even turn it all the way up without distortion.

What would an amp do for me just more volume?

An amp is going to produce a much cleaner signal along will bringing the sound up higher at the same volume. Your headunit is what is distorting the sound at higher volumes.
