Ok ia i got a 94 civic that i picked up from a buddy on here and when i went to go test it out it had a dead battery and we got a new one. the car had a bit of trouble starting up but eventually we got it started. we bought the car, drove it home and now it will not start at all. we looked in the gas tank and there was RUST in it..so we get a new tank pump and filter..still nothing anyone have any ideas? btw no check engine lights

Start by pulling the gas cap and have someone listen if the pump comes on, if so then pull a plug wire from the dizzy cap, checking for spark.. You need both!!

If you have no spark, replace the dizzy with a known good one(working one).. If no fuel, then go back to your pump install. Try another pump, also check all fuses!!

Post back your results for more feedback!!

If it sucked some of the rust through the line it could have got stuck in the injector filters and is not letting fuel get through to the injectors, pull the fuel rail and pull and clean the filters in the injectors.

if it had fuel and spark it would run.. Check the timing to be sure it has not jumped, also do a compression check.. And be sure the injector fires on the signal side, if you probe it with a test light both wires will show 12v's, you will see the light flash on the ecu signal side of the injectors, not the yel/blk wires but the others.. If test light don't flash then injectors are not firing!!

ok well i took the oil cap off and the cam is spinning.. timing belt should be fine maybe it jumped a tooth? i do not have a compression tester atm may go by autozone later tomorrow.. dont have a test light either so that will come tomorrow but i did see that the injectors were shooting gas..when my friend put the injectors in he didnt tighten the nuts down on it and it sprayed fuel everywhere so i think they're working

Thats fuel pressure at the rail so good.. You need to be sure all the timing marks line up, if so then good.. Compression test is just to be sure it's up to par(has enough to run).

Like I said, fuel and spark and it should run..

Also be sure to let us know what the car is doing? When it spins over does it sound weak, or sound like it wants to run?

Remember, all the info you give helps us point you in the right direction.. Keep that in mind!!

sounds like its wanting to run the firing order is correct but its backfireing alot

It's out of time!!! Check the timing marks to be sure!

If the car backfires on start-up than the timing is off, ether with the timing marks(timing belt) or the firing order on the plug wires, thats all we're saying.. If the timing marks line up, than replace the dizzy with a known good one.. You said once already that the car ran, so what changed?
Fuel pump would not cause it to back-fire upon start-up.. Just sayin!

only thing i can think of is the motor being bad or no compression.

-before: car was setting for?? how long.
-bought the car and drove it home < -- hard time starting at first
-over night, will not crank up anymore
- found water in the gas tank and it caused rusts.
- i took fuel filter off, nothing but brown gasoline
----------------------------
-swapped gas tank
-primed fuel pump to get all rust shit out of line
-replace with good filter, fuel rail, injectors
-----------------------------

-still will not crank, back fires out of intake manifold ( white smoke - gas )
---------------------------
-gets spark, new spark plugs
-nothing wrong with timing <----- ran before
-all fuse good
---------------------------

only thing i can think of is the motor is fucked, going to grab compression test, hope it isnt below 90-80 psi.

add a cap full of oil to the cylinders to aid in case the rings are washed out while plugs are pulled turn motor over a few seconds to get oil around cylinder and bad stuff out will run if oil brings compression up. i have bought a many of cars cheap due to this simple thing!. put in better plugs used or new water/bad fuel prolly got the best of these plugs and check injectors if water was present it can make injectors gum up and stick open or closed. also is a small possibility that the rings may have become seized in the ring lands. my very first b18a1 from the junk yard had this problem.

He can't really get mad, I mean it was hard to start when they bought it.. So he knew it needed work, live and learn..:goodjob:
