ive recently been on craigslist looking for cars alot and i noticed a bunch of car selling tricks.
1. when a car has a lot of miles it's always highway miles. even if it's a 1965 honda with 300,000 they are always all highway miles. wtf it's the same shit.
2. when a car has a motor swap the swap always has less than 100,000 miles but they have no way of proving it. yeah. your 1991 swap has 80,000 miles.
3. when a car has a salvage title it's always super easy and super cheap to get it registered. if it's so god damn easy why havent you done it??????
4. it has a check engine light for some 20 dollar part that is very easy to replace. if it's so easy and cheap why hasn't it been fixed?
5. 20 dollars of fuel last me 2 weeks. this car is a great gas saver. yeah, 20 dollars would last me a whole year if i didn't drive the car.
6. the car has been rebuilt from the ground up. Yet, they have no receipts or pictures or any proof.
7. if a car has mods, even if the car is ugly as hell, it's still worth more than a normal car because it's been modified by someone that probably does not know what they are doing.
8. all it needs is some paint. yep, how i and dents remove themselves. body work is not cheap.
9. And what do people consider good condition these days? dent's, high miles, dirty car, ugly paint, not lined up body panels is not clean, or good condition.
10. The worst thing that people do when selling a car is say that it runs perfectly, but when you see the car it is nowhere near perfect.
There is many more things that people do when posting their cars for sale. these are just some that irritate me.
/rant.

No one is forceing you to buy them, easy solution is to not buy it.

not buying anything without throughly checking it first. I just feel bad for the poor people that fall for these scams. I just don't get why people cant be honest with the problems that their cars have instead of lying about them. It's much easier for the buyer and seller if they are completely honest about the car the whole time.

My favorite is:

"Here's my '05 S2000 (or 350z, both seem to be pretty common) with a rebuilt title. It was in a fender bender when new, so it was given the title. No major damage at all, just a bumper and hood. Car looks and drives perfect."

Also the "This car runs and drives great with no issues at all" Then when you call they say no issues that they know of that it has sat awhile.
Then just say that in the add don't make it sound like its been daily driven and is a dream.

What bugs me is how overpriced the POS' are, then when someone does have a very clean car, they're ridiculed for asking more than 'blue book'

Guess they think none of that stuff degrades value lol

I can't stand it when people sell built cars for the same price it would cost you to do it. Who the hell would buy your used, probably ragged out car when you could do the same build for the same price and know you have a well built car.

Its there car they can ask what ever they want for it, asking is not getting, besides if they price it accordingly they low life lowballers are just going to offer nothing for it.

True but i say there is a difference between "Asking price" and "I Think its worth"......a person thinks a 90 Geo storm needing a tranny is worth $3k then thats a JOKE or a sell.

Its there 90 geo storm they can ask what ever they want for it, geo metro's thanks to gas prices have been bring upwards of 3k, im sure when your selling a car you just want to give it away right?

No one has to accept a low ball. when a person post a car well over blue book value they are not priceing it for lowballers, they are just trying to squeeze as much money as they can from the buyer. If they post a fair asking price make it firm they do not have to get hassled by lowballers.

No but you can admit that if a person has no idea what cars do sell or retail for they can have funny ideas of prices. I have many times been told just cause it was a Honda a person thinks its worth $2500-$4000 easy. No they don't have to sell it but most the time they are dead set on selling it for that price. Then get pissed and wonder why no one will by my car fuck! lol
Just a random good example...

the best is the retards who e-mail from craigslist about a $35k car, asking if you'll take $20k, right out of the gate. I sign them up for porn and send them a virus.

Its worth what someone will pay, when gas got up to 5$ a gallon I sold my bone stock 93 vx hatch back for 5k granted it was in close to mint condtion, i posted it on Ia and got the crys and whines that i was not going to sell it for 500$ posted it on craigslist and had it sold in 48 hours. I see lots of cars for what i think is crazy money sell but then again its not my car and with the market the way it is there is a shortage of used cars and the prices reflect that even they cars at the dealer auctions are going for crazy money.

They once was a guy on here talking shit about always racing his civic then how it was getting dogged out.
He then posted it on craigslist asking about $1500 more than his IA price and said it smoked but due to needing tune up.
I'm glad I knew what a fucked up deal it was but feel bad for who ever did buy it.

I love the "selling because I am re-locating"............ Last time I remembered, cars could still roll and were legal in most states.

They usually say that followed by "will take trades for an S2K or Del Sol."

And #1 on my list (and this seems to be an ATL thing) is posting the car for sale, but using pics of it from 2 years ago when it was nice, had sweet rims, was lowered, and interior was mint. Now the car is covered with rock nicks and dings, has 9" of wheel gap, purple tint, 4 mismatched tires, 13" wheels from a 79 Scirocco, and the interior looks like a badger was trapped inside for a few months.

I just posted up my Accord for sale on CL, and had no trouble selling it. Didn't bother posting it on IA, as I knew that I would get nothign but lowballers wanting it for free.

This, all day long, and personally I think in large part it's still some long reaching effects from the ridiculous cash for clunkers crap.
