ok well i got another turbo the other day. its a t67 garrett turbo with a .82 4 bolt exh housing. i was told the turbo was in "great" condition. he also told me he had a 3" vband housing for it as well, and that it was a .63 which is perfect for my engine/setup.

Well i get the turbo in only to find problems. he is not on this site and isnt returning my texts now. i purchased a lot of other parts from him before and i trusted him. so i sent him the $ as a gift, so getting my money back is not in the equation. so anyway i got a few serious questions.

1. Look at the fins on the turbine wheel and tell me how they look to you, they look fucked to me but i need other peoples advice before i take it to where i normally get my turbochargers worked on (turbo deisel and electric forest park)

2. When i tried to put the turbo on the precision housing, the wheel would not fit through. i sent him a text and he responded to this question. he said he measured the housing and it was 62mm. my first thinking was why would you think that a 67mm wheel would fit in a 62mm housing? but like i said im no expert. Well my ? is....... can i "port" or "file" down the vband housing for my wheel to fit in it or what can be done. because the .82 will be too big for me....

this is the .63 housing on my manifold.....

Wheel is definitely gone. That's how mine looked before I put my new one on. Drove down the road, boosted twice and then sounded like it swallowed a cat and would only hit about 2 psi.

It will probably boost, but you'll need a new shaft assembly

Yea I guess ima take it to them and let them do their magic. Possible to replace the turbine wheel only? And can it be changed to a little bit smaller one to fit my other housing?

Be sure it gets balanced well. It'll be spinning 90-100,000 rpms and just a slight imbalance will shred that turbo. Thats what happened to my last one.

Nah my rebuilt ones always last. That's not the question here, turbo deisel and electric never do me wrong.....

The ? I have, and I would ask them but they are closed on the weekend is......

Can I put a smaller turbine wheel on the turbo so I can run my .63 housing? Pretty much can I use the same size comp wheel and run a different turbine wheel?

This is not about money or not having enough money to buy a new turbo. That's why I didn't mention money....

Yes. As long as the shaft is the same diameter and length so you can put the compressor wheel on the other end.

Yes u deff can only proB u may have is finding one and if money is not an issue you can deff have one made to fit... I got a buddy with a garrett gt4272r that is custom made to run a billet 67mm wheel so that its still sfwd legal and can still make over 1000hp

also you have to remember the trim size along with the wheel diameter which means that little section thats supposed to be straight where the damage occurred on a smaller trim is not as long a flat spot as a bigger trim. so if the trim that the.63 is set up for a narrower trim wheel the fatter trim from a bigger turbo will not fit down in the groove the exhaust wheel has to ride in and scavenge from inside the housing. but a .63 made for you trim and size diameter wheel will. there's different trim and wheel sizes for and housing in .63. say .50,57,60,61,62,66 and 67 i believe, i think even a .70 size t70 can come with a .63 housing. your boys at the diesel place may have one! good luck and let us know how it goes!
