He was good. I think he makes top 30 easily. But of all time......that's tough.
Lyrics were very .....what's the word......passionate? But over the years there has been a lot of people up there with him.
I mean I really HATE DMX, but in his prime, he was very 2pacish IMO

Then you have snoop (snoop doggystyle , murder was the case, come on), guru, eazy e, dre(even though anything after the chronic I don't think his lyrics were all that special), eminem(argue all you want slim shady and Marshall Mathews album were on another level), common, old NAS, KRS-ONe, outkast, there's just so many.
All those were mid 90s rappers. There's ridiculous amounts of others that weren't "mainstream" it's hard not to mention (kurtis blow, spice 1, grandmaster flash, dr. Octagon/kool Keith, big etc etc etc)
2pac was prob the first extremely successful mainstream rapper that appealed to white suburban kids which is why he made it big. IMO
OF course QD will disagree with all this

True out of a long list of thousands of rappers he was one of the best
Out of a long list of thousands, probably. Out of a short list, not so sure.
Here's how I see it. When younger folks start talking about who the greatest is, they don't have the true, lengthy experience with hip hop/rap that was there. There isn't really anyone to compare 2Pac to. after his demise. Younger folks won't give the old school artists, the pioneers a chance because to them (younger people), that form of hip hop isn't appealing. What these folks don't know, though............ Later, QD.

i have a large amount of hip hop on my hard drive. probably one of the few true hip hop lovers of both old and new...and i must say a lot of people don't listen to some of todays artists because they aren't "inspiring" them or saying things to relate to their troubled past. i on the other hand just enjoy listening to the things these artists say, and how they make things they say mean multiple things. take lil wayne for example...... im sure 99.9% of the people who don't like him, either dont like him because of the "baby" kiss OR his mainstream radio music or just think he's damn weird......

I don't know how old of hip hop you listen to, but believe this, it's a completely different feeling to have "grown up with the music." To be there when a Grandmaster Flash album came off the assembly line. To hear a track when rap was in it's infancy was a treat. We hadn't heard anything like that before. Scratching records, drum beats and multiple artists taking turns within a verse were all brand new. Rap was a fun music in a fun way. But it was also a great tool for inner city residents to get their message out of inner city living. A lot of people say that they listen to old rap and when I ask them who, they say Notorious B.I.G. or Puffy or Dr. Dre (Chronic). I'm thinking that's as far back as you're going? That's nothing.
im just saying people just brush off todays music
There's a reason for that, dude, lolol. Compared to the greats of this genre, Lil Wayne is just garbage. I can't knock you or other people that like him because this is stuff that you guys grew up on. This is what was new and out in your time of influence. Later, QD.

Nah homie I don't get offended. I just know that 99.9% of people favorite rappers of all time lack the consistant lyrical delivery, that's the only reason I say 5 of their best tracks, because frankly they most likely don't have 5. I'm not here to say anybody is better then anyone else, but simply to say that most people don't truly listen to the rappers of today. Ie: jadakiss, cassidy, fabolous, wayne, t.I., etc..... not solja boy and lil flip and what not

you wont win this with QD.
Problem i have with QDs argument is if you are really a music connoisseur then you can evolve with the music. Its foolish to think that just because you experienced a genres inception means thats the only form of that music you can listen to. None of the other genres are the same. Rock and Roll isnt elvis anymore, same with techno, pop, rap, etc.
Im 30, so when i grew up, ill say the FIRST real rap album i heard that i can remember was Dr. Dre The Chronic. I think i was like 12-13. Remember that shit was NOT on the radio. AN yes any 12-13 year old WHITE parents were not letting their kids buy Dr Dre lol.
From dre i got into snoop, i remember i owned all eyez on me as a freshman in HS, tha doggpound, i remember buying Skee-lo, spice 1, KRS-one etc. That was while i lived in GERMANY. When i moved to OKC i remember purchasing ATLIENS from Outkast and thats when i started getting into the other coast.
I found Dj premier/gang starr, biggie, etc as a sophmore in high school.
I hated lil wayne till i heard his mixtapes, and i agree his word play is something unique.
Also rap is something you shouldnt take so seriously. I have no problems sitting here saying i listen to a TON of garbage on hot 107.9 lol Sometimes its just a good beat or whatever.
dont have to be so elitist all the time.

You shot yourself on this one, Mike. You're putting words on the screen that didn't come from my keyboard. You're responding to my posts as you want to see it and not as how I meant it.
1: "if you are really a music connoisseur then you can evolve with the music" - how do you know I don't listen to today's music? Just because I promote old school doesn't mean I don't listen to anything else. I was a HUGE Master P/No Limit person in the late 90's/early 2000's. Had over 120 of his CDs. Bought them all. I like some of TI's material. There are a few that I like that are from this decade. I just prefer OS because it appeals to me better.
2: "Its foolish to think that just because you experienced a genres inception means thats the only form of that music you can listen to." - Where did you pull that one from? I never said or implied that. I brought up the inception angle because it's truly different being at the beginning of something rather than playing catch up with history lessons. Like Elvis and myself. I had to take history lessons to get into his music. I can't imagine what it was like to hear him as a brand new artist.
So like I said, you're just reaching for something, dude. Instead of reaching for thin air, reach for these fucking video games and get them out of my house, lolol.
My first run-in with parents hearing what I was listening to my buddy and I playing ping pong in his garage and listening to "Fuck the Police" and his mom walked out to give us lunch, lolol. She wasn't happy at all.
Also rap is something you shouldnt take so seriously. I have no problems sitting here saying i listen to a TON of garbage on hot 107.9 lol Sometimes its just a good beat or whatever.
dont have to be so elitist all the time.
I don't take rap seriously. I simply made a comment and it gets taken out of context and everyone wants to argue. If you call "droppin' knowledge" being an elitist, then I guess I am. Just because I'm sharing past experience and music from the old days of hip hop doesn't mean I'm being above anyone. Not sure why you think I'm being "elitist." I'm just sharing what I know.
And personally, grand master flash sucks, so does sugar hill gang. but they started it, doesnt meani have to listen to it :P
This validates the point I was making earlier. Younger folks don't like the old stuff because it was so simple back then. And I never said you had to listen to it. And I don't like Sugar Hill Gang, either. And if you brought up SHG because of that one track, that wasn't them.

I got you, sir. It is rare, but there are certain tracks I like from beyond the greatest era of rap (lolol). Not too many groups or solo artisits, but tracks they may have done. Back in the day (and quite a few up into the mid 90's), you could find artists that would have an album out that you could listen to the whole thing. Especially in the 1980's.

Lolol. I'll leave the determination of whether this Drake character is good or not to you, as, to be honest, I've not listened to anything he has done after the snippet I heard a while back. I hated it.
Btw qd, post 1990 is the era of great rap. Not pre 1990.
No. I was right, lolol. Well, we both are right in a way. Rap was still decent up until around the mid to late 90's. The 1980's will always be the golden age of hip hop. The greatest time for hip hop. A decade of invention for hip hop. The 1990's ushered in a more mainstream take on this style of music. Rap started getting more airplay on the radio outside of New York and Los Angeles. This enabled more people outside of urban areas to catch on to it. More styles were coming out. The closing of the 20th Century was also the first tumor of hip hop.
This tumor was NOT benign.
The 2000's era of rap was met with a little bit of resistance to the decline of the good stuff, but not enough to really keep it from falling off. The tumor grew. The cancer spread. Look it, man. It's evident all around. Several years ago, hip hop was everywhere. Movies, commercials, TV and other sorts of media all had some form of hip hop intermingled inside. I remember several months ago I thought about this and realized that you hardly ever hear any hip hop in commercials or other forms of entertainment. It's fallen rapidly.
And who were the stars of rap at that time? Lil Wayne. Feminem. It is evident that these two killed rap music.
(I'm just kidding about the above...but it does make some sort of sense).
Later, QD.

Eminem, im sorry i still think SLim shady and Marshall Mathers were 2 great albums. SLim Shady was so different when it came out. It was a white guy, who wasnt vanilla ice, and was not afraid to just dis EVERYONE. I mean he sang songs about killing his mom. I dont think you can argue that his lyrics were some of the most potent and vile stuff to come out in a long time, prob since 2pac.
Anything after MM i think is horrible. eminem show, relapse, recovery, etc all garbage. new bad meets evil is decent, but not anywhere near his first albums .
But i still think the best albums were the 90s. 2pac, outkast, gang starr, biggie, kRS, common, nas, etc.
The last album i listened to that i actually like was the JCole mixtapes. Saigons album was pretty good too

Interesting debate going on in here, I like it! Personally, I listen to almost all rap with the exception of a few. I tend to view rap music almost like a subject in school. I try my best to study every word, and am constantly searching for a new artists to add to my collection. I can agree that today's rap seems less meaningful, or that most(not all), mainstream artists seem to put little effort in to their music these days. I tend to listen to older stuff, but with that said, their are still artists today that I would place in the top ten of all time list, although most are underground.
If you haven't already, you should DEFINITELY check some of these artists out:

Yeah i mean its perfectly ok to like a specific genre of rap more than another, but you also should be able to accept that each phase has its own "greats". This genres "great" is Lil Wayne, while i think he is very talented i struggle to put him in the same category as early Em, biggie, 2pac, Nas, etc.
I think the shift has been that most rap nowadays isnt really rap, its pop rap. Its about waht sells millions or records and makes millions of dollars. I mean listen to the mainstream Lil Wayne and drake lyrics. Its about vacation, money, champagne, clubs, etc. Kinda hard to really hit an older core audience that grew up with "me against the world" and "ready to die" and "the message".
Thats why very few people like J. Cole get any airtime because thier lyrics are depressing for lack of a better word.

But i still think the best albums were the 90s. 2pac, outkast, gang starr, biggie, kRS, common, nas, etc.
NWA had two great records. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, WC and the Madd Circle all released albums that, to me, trump several of the ones you listed, Mike. Later, QD.

well i said "etc" because i couldnt sit there and list every one LOL
The Chronic and Doggystyle were prob 2 of the most influential albums of the decade. But i think Ice Cube doesnt get as much credit as he should. Sure he does NOW , but to me The Predator and Lethal Injection wereright up there.
WC Like west coast connection WC?

NWA i respect what they did, but honestly i never liked Eazy-E or NWA, wasnt what i grew up on, and wasnt really my style. I liked the much more gritty bass heavy gangsta rap of the early to mid 90s

I have no problem saying Cube should retire right now. He should have retired several years ago. Cube doesn't get so much credit now because of his past few albums have not been up to par with his earlier works.

[Lil' Wayne:]
And I take probation
I don't want that T.I. and Vick vacation
Private plane, big location
I'm goin' to the bank to make a big donation
Yeah, I don't stunt, I stunt hard
And if the food ain't on the stove I hunt for it
But in the meantime you can call me Young Roy
Jones Junior fightin' the drugs and gun charge
Shit, don't leave me unguarded
And I'm a cheese head word to Vince Lombardi
Word to Marky Mark leave a snitch departed
All that blood like the Red Sea parted
My gun go crazy like it's retarded
Red light on it like it's recordin'
I ain't recordin' I'm jus C4'in
My currency foreign
We are in a league they aren't
Better dig in ya pocket an pay homage
Better cover ya eyes ya face fallin'
Watch the game from the side I'm play callin'
No I didn't say that I'm flawless
But I, damn sure don't tarnish
My pistol got comments for ya garments
I'm so high I can vomit on a comet
K Y no homo I'm on it
Weezy F. Baby new born bitch
You know what they say 'bout when ya palm itch
I'm gon' get money money I'm gon' get
Young Money in ya tummy and we gon' shit
An get that toilet paper quick like when bones spit
That's right bitch I'm back on my grown shit
That automatic k no ice just chrome shit
And ya' boyfriend softer than a foam pit
I scream "fuck the world" wit' a long dick
Motherfucker I'm me, yeah bitch I'm me
You niggas sweet like the pussy in which I eat
Fireman burn down ya' entire street
So fly I'm a take off when I leap, bye
And you can suck my wings
Stand on my money headbutt Yao Ming
Putcha hand in the oven if ya' touch my things
I'm shufflin' the cards 'bout to cut my queens
But I ain't the dealer
House full of bitches like Tila Tequila
Yeah, I'm the man in the mirror
My swagger jus screamin' mothafucker do you hear her
Drizzy Drake what the lick read?
We make magic boy Roy and Sigfreid
Whoo! Young Moula baby, yeah

Here are the lyrics to one of the songs I posted. For the record I don't hate Lil Wayne, I used to listen to some of his stuff, and actually liked the carter 1 & 2.
Lyrics to Agent Orange by Cage:
[whispered in the background:] "Smoke dust, shoot the cops
Give out automatics to your friends on the block"
There was me, Alex.. and three of my mens
All supposed to meet at Korova Milk Bar
The Korova Milk Bar couldn't afford it's liquor license
so it sold milkplus Drencrom, or Synthmesc
It would sharpen you up for a bit of the ol' ultraviolence
which plagued our minds for the evening
And so kiddies... death for all, right right?! RIGHT RIGHT!!
[Verse One: Cage]
I'm Against the Machine like Rage; bitches say, "I hate you Cage!"
After circle jerks, I wash my hands off and do dirt
Sick with a smirk, plus I be disturbed
Fucked the first two bitches like dogs and I jacked off on the third
I'm obvious oblivion but that's my science
Fuck your head up like corn rows put in by blind giants
Haven't been with it, since the last corpse kidded
Wore a blood stained smile, and told the cop, "He did it!"
Of course the most raw throughout the 9-1-4, 1-0-9-4-0
Got you beasts shook like Doc Moreau
Pour beer out for yourself because you're walkin dead
I'll burn your house down like a fuckin Talking Head
And get high like fuck, and pick apart my brain
Disections [HA!] may [HA!] mentally [HA!] cause [HA!] infections
Break you with inventions, sick intentions
Leave most MC's lost in my sentence
I'm strictly, beyond and back, come and get me
Hemotobin, left from a lip like a hickie
Leak smoke got me ready to murder a rookie
Killers on your block tuck in they dicks like Tootsie
Come and witness what your shit missed
Watch the glock kiss, Little Sis' wetter like a Baptist
Inconvinence; dilemma, like sitting on, Venus
with no shuttle, treeless
Try and pick apart some Agent Orange perception
Catch frontal lobe damage and not manage correction
I smell leak smoke, left by the anonymous
Beats brought back to life, die, when I'm embalmin this
Come around and get yo' ass shot to clusters
I'ma play the injuns with the arrows you be Custard's.. back
I write upon ya, divorce your head and neck then scalp it
Rip off all your flesh and make a outfit
[Chorus: cut and scratched by the DJ]
People said his brain was infected by devils [x3]
Infected by, infected by, infected by devils
People said his brain was infected by devils [x3]
[Verse Two: Cage]
I survived abortion; got mushed in that canister shaped coffin
til stolen ("that bitch") from the garbage I was tossed in
Instincts, snatch your cream like links
Blow shotguns through the sky, makin E.T. eyes chink
See me twistin leak with my peeps from psychiatrics
Get high, run up in ya crib and fuck ya moms backwards
Lost in the dust, don't give a fuck about dangerous
I'm in it for the whip, plus the cream and the head.. rush
Ready to bust any trick that talk slick
Know a crew of devils in my head that force me to walk..
with, Death in my pocket for the curious
At your execution see twelve faces of Jesus in your jury this,
Orange Agent, shit on the vagrant
Caught you in the alley by yourself and left your head vacant
Dare you sample, some of the stress in my life
Give an MC brain surgery with butterfly knives
For all you cunts that try to spit with your bitch clique behind ya
Wake up in the mornin with a horsehead beside ya
Ma Dukes is just a cherry on top
Spendin G's on quacks to try an fix my Clock
I caught the quick lock, buggin in the institution
Whatever sanity was left, caught the execution
Psychological pollution, they stickin me with Thorazine solution
Shootin at the sky lookin for Godly retribution
And I can almost see clear
I start buggin like a insect and lay larvae in ya ear
Agent Orange stompin on MC corpse slim circle body part
Call murder scenes abstract art
Split your sweet prayers since the horror show with infra-red
Boots get planted in chest there for the misled
Lay it down for naps in the dirt, just like Clockwork
Undress your ghost while your brain's takin a squirt
[Chorus]
[Dialogue below interpreted by Cage from the film "Clockwork Orange"]
Still feeling alive as the young devotchka collapsed
Me being still ready for more in-out in-out
Necro still forcing syringes and dope tracks on the locals
We came to a place called home
and did a little of the old, break and enter
I could feel the Drencrom, leading me on to a horrow show
trying to walk; me being up twice.

yeah i tend to agree with that, rap took a turn in the mid to late 90s with the gangsta rap progression which became about women, partying, getting drunk which evolved into the current Drake, Lil wayne, Nicki minaj, Akon crapfest we have now.
In the beginning it was about social injustice, crooked cops, gang vs gang, politics, etc. It became something else as i think the record companies figured out how to make tons of dough. Lets face it no one wants to listen to Tech-9 in a club, they want Birdman and Nicki Minaj

now...for the most part, i listen to all of the music, alot have purposes..some i use for waking up in teh morning/going on a road trip, some i listen to for the lyrics itself, etc. i'm not saying soulja and people in his 'genre' are the greatest, but to put him down as pure bullshit, doesnt make sense, since at the end of the day, thats what started it off...and i'm basing that off of your post..and you call lil wayne trash, but he's constantly speaking on the same thing 'who is better' his lollipop song was a partying/club song..young jeezy hits on politics and SOME partying songs, on top of his 'trap' life.
so which is it?!

Im sorry but i totally disagree with what "rap" started out as. No one was making millions with Rap music until the early to mid 90s.
Soulja Boy , Waka Flocka, etc is all garbage, but i still listen to garbage sometimes. I mean i never take music so seriously i cant laughingly listen to different styles.
I actually think Soulja boy is smart, he is a great marketing person. I mean hes doing something right if hes making millions at 18. Who cares if his music sucks, or he "killed hip hop" like Ice T said, he made millions. Since when does someone have to always have some deep message? sometimes its just bubble gum music to listen to. Which is what Soulja Boy does.
Which is what Wayne does
Which is what 50cent does
Which is what Eminem does
etc.
If you want to make MONEY TODAY, you rap about bootys, bitches, and big screen TVs. or the CLUB, or Champagne, etc.
If you want to promote a message, you make a mixtape that 1/100th of the people will hear
Sammich
06-21-2011, 01:08 PM
alot of mixtapes are shit too..so you cant say that necessarily...and Em doesnt do 'bubble gum' music. his two singles he started out w/ were pretty much, but his albums were far from it. Eminem's mixtapes though...yea..pretty crucial...but all of his music, all have messages in them. if i want to listen to something w/ a deep message, one of the first artist that comes to mind right now is Lupe

First off, back in the beginning, rap and hip hop were one and the same. It didn't break off until later in the 90's when subject matter split off into what we have now. Where rap went more into just being about how much fame, fortune and females you had, hip hop continued down the same path of personal feelings, social aspects and political views (police, government, poverty).
A contradiction in the straight sense of it all, but not in the grand scheme of things. Listen to a party-style track from 1980 and listen to the same style from the 2000's. You can't put Slick Rick and Dougie Fresh in the same arena as Lil Jon and Soulja Boy. Try to listen to Lah-Di-Dah-Di and then listen to Superman that Hoe. The comparison is non-existent. Back then, stories were told during party anthems. Today, pretty much nothing said. Later, QD.

Grandmaster Flash was, for the most part, NOT club music. They did have their fair share of club style music. It's Nasty and Birthday Party were a couple. But I'd rather hear a well thought-out track thatn one that just says, "superman dat hoe" for five straight minutes. That's just plain annoying.

Nah. Based on recognizing competitive lyrics.
You think this is ingenious?
"bitch holla it is lil weezy
dey can not see me they are like stevie"
"And me I'm still spitten like a retard
and dese niggas soft dey should be rappin in leotards"
"You aint a man your a hoe,
I can kill him with the flow,
And then play the guitar at the fuckin funeral"
There is no thought process to these lines, man. That's just weak, basic shit, man. These are the kind of rhymes that someone that's just getting into rhyming would put out. I would expect someone who has been around for over a decade to come forth with much better shit than this.
But if you're a Weezy fan and you know what you're talking about when it comes to devastating lyrics and you say these are examples of such.............
...................who am I to argue. Later, QD.

Pac Is on my personal favorites list.. Keyword : Personal..
However, Any list that comes out through any media outlets ( TV, Magz, Online ) or Professional producer will have Pac in the top 5 of all time.. maybe even top 3 of all time...
Pac changed the Face of hip hop / rap.. Something not many have done.. Many have tried, but haven't.
Eazy E put gansta rap out their.. Dre refined it with the Tunes.... then some took it from their.
In my eyes.. Hip Hop started messing up in the whole Master P and No Limit era.. went down hill from there..
DMX is also one my favorites.. So Is EM.. and a few more.. Ice Cube had a great run with some hot stuff.. .. Early 90's Fat Joe stuff.. Album " REPRESENT " one of my personal favorites from Fat Joe..Das Effex.. and my list goes on.. Jay Z , im 50/50 with..
If you would to ask me, whos the best of all time.. I would have to say
JAY - Z .. Richest Rapper ever.. Made good Music.. Is a business men...
Why is he the best in my eyes.. When against all criticism and bit other people's line and became the most powerful man in Hip Hop.
Is he my best ? NO.. However.. Dude has been the smartest of all of them.. Even smarter the Russell Simmons..
My favorite is Nasir Jones. ( OLD STUFF )
I dont even listen to music now a days.. I have no idea whats out there and whats hot.. TI fell off.. People think Lil Wayne and drake are gods gift to music with there cookie cutting lyrics..

I gotta agree with QD. In my opinion most of Lil Wayne's songs consist of him saying basically the same-things over and over again. Once again, I don't exactly hate Lil' Wayne, but to me, there is no way in hell that he is "the greatest rapper alive" no matter how many times he says it in his songs, trying to make his fans to believe it.
For shits and giggles:
Cage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOrCZVdRndo He directed this towards Emeniem back when they had beef.
(CAGE)
You wanna kill me nigga?
All the way live, we bring to you to host the annual drowning,
in Lake Michigan..
(CAGE)
I heard some blonde bitch walking through New York looking for Cage
I'll stab you in the face, ten times in the same place
Lace your little infant 'til you thinking different
When in the same building on the street lift you off your feet
Won't chill then, microsibling to my cock
Dribbling, Scribbling verses
For the worthless, fuck a million purses
Keep the doctor to remove the slug
I bug when I stand so simple
Took you in the club
Something for ya entourage
Something for your body guards
History shows rappers dying in cars
They lost one in the West; we lost one in the East
Should I drown you in Lake Mich. or buck you in Miami Beach?
Chorus: Cage
The illest four-letter word in the world is Cage!
Ya better off fucking some cunt raw and gettin AIDS
Bitch the illest four letter word in the world is Cage!
Bitch the illest four letter word in the world is Cage!
Ya better off fucking some cunt raw and gettin AIDS
The Illest four letter word in the world is Cage!
(CAGE)
The illest four letter word in the world, supporter
Rhyme slaughter, the listener to death save the gun for the
Blonde Ambition, fell off the Christian wagon
Your systems saggin biting my shit and I'm laughing
I can freak simple shit and sell records but I don't
I write the illest shit that cause fans to enter bitin' zones
Keep your guards by your guard you showing cards on the low
See a man gotta deal, now y'all look just like ??
All you schizophrenics need help with reality
Kill your two little personalities
Shark getting snuck a salary
Observe gravity pullin ya in to earth gradually
You'll see you need a style I create to try and battle me
Chorus
(CAGE)
Big electro shock that you can't understand
I wreck intellects slanted brains like Japan
My An-ger's a result of sick lust
Won't you come and injure us with their brains stringed up
I've never contemplated while hallucinating
my existence aiding those with imaginations
and mental disorders pulsating
I'm training
My lost love leaves princess to interest and this other slut
To puff bundles of dust
From bongs while she rocks a thong we get drawn
I keep scratching her clit with salad tongs
Fucked her up against the intercom
So my nigga's down stairs can hear
We're buggin like an insect laying larva in ya ear
Another sick ass song. Listen all the way through!

The ONLY reason Gay-Z is a better rapper than Russell Simmons is because Russell Simmons was never a rapper, lolol. Later, QD.

I gotta agree with QD. In my opinion most of Lil Wayne's songs consist of him saying basically the same-things over and over again.
Even you don't believe that. Every song I Posted sounded completely different in each and every way. The point is you aren't listening to his songs because you don't like him, thats obvious...... thats why you agree with QD. You know he's not clicking any links i post, he's a good guy, thats just his MO.
but this is a good thread guys...... keep it going........ and btw cage is no comparison to real freestyle rappers..... cassidy, proof, etc...... but he is good doe! better then i thought he would be

JDM94Coupe, I never claimed that he was better than Emeniem, I simply stated that Emeniem is who he wrote the song about. As for Lil Wayne, I actually have every single song that you have posted in my Itunes library. Like I have said, I used to listen to the guy, but have since moved on after feeling that every song has become repetitive, and what REALLY killed it was when he began using auto tune. One song that I do like by him is "The Heat" off the Carter 1. All I'm saying is that I do not believe Lil' Wayne is "the greatest rapper alive" or even close to it, I used Cage as an example of one of many average artists who I believe to be greater than Lil Wayne. No, I do not believe Cage is the best rapper alive, I actually hate his new Cd, but I do believe that he is better than Lil' Wayne.

Haha. Remember though J, the rap/hip hop genre wasn't as business savvy back in those days as it is now. They didn't have the backing of other businesses and corporations that they do now. Money wasn't flowing into these guys pockets like they do now.
You know he's not clicking any links i post, he's a good guy, thats just his MO.
My "MO?" I'm not using tactics to get around your points. I'm being straight with you with an unbiased ear, dude. It seems your only rebuttal to my opinions are to say "you just don't like him." Whereas I'm offering up some sort of argument as to why I don't think your favorite rapper is all that good, you're doing nothing except I'm only saying that because I don't like him.
I could probably play about 20 different Wayne tracks and no one would hardly know the difference. His mumbling throughout his tracks make each song sound the same.
but this is a good thread guys...... keep it going.......
Yeah, it's not a bad topic at all.
Simple Lyrics.. Not all that bullshit we been hearing since 2000 from all these weirdos..
Agreed. Even though I'm no fan of Fat Joe or Jay Z or Nas, I'd give them all the respect in the world of rap over anyone from after 2000. Later, QD.

Don't like him, either, lolol. But he is a good one for his time. Far from a great. I would take DMX over Jada pretty much all day. Later, QD.

I prefer neither of them, myself. I guess having West Coast in my heart, I never really got into the NY rap style. As I said before, there are scattered tracks out there I do like, but never been a fan of any artist outside of 1989. I'm a Left Coast person through and through, though. Later, QD.
