Get rid of the paint that currently sits on your wheels with some paint remover/aircraft stripper.
Then work with 800 up to 2000 grit sand paper with a bucket of water.
Have patience and time, then use rubbing compound on a cloth, some more patience and time, and a nice cold bottle of beer.
Pretty straight foward

It's a PITA! Use lots of water. Make sure you get each grit level sanded down well for the next grit.

When using Aircraft Stripper (don't forget latex gloves, alot, or the stripper will burn your skin)

Stuff I used & steps I went through when I polished my gsr blades & only took me 4.5hrs (by hand, no power tools):
100ct. Latex Gloves, (800, 1000, 1500, 2000) Grit Sand Paper, 0000 Fine Grit Steel Wool, Bucket of Soapy Water, Aircraft Stripper, Paint Brush, Metal Can (pour the stripper into it), Clean Soft Towels, Rags, ect & Mother's Aluminum Wheel Polish.

Steps: in order from start to finish:
-1. Use 2 pair of Ruber Gloves as stripper will eat through them quickly.
-2. Start applying stripper & let it do what it does.
-3. Take you fine grit steel wool & dip it in your bucket of soapy water & start cleaning the paint, clear, ect off the wheel.
-4. Repeat step 3 if you still have paint, clear, ect still on the rim.
-5. Once wheel is Clean from stripper, wash it down & rinse it off.
-6. Start sanding from 800grit (wetsand) it will get really dull (I sanded in 1 direction)
-7. Then to 1000grit & through 1500grit up to 2000grit.
-8. If the rim is even from sanding, then apply your "wheel compound, polish, or whatever your planning on using" in a circular motion "wheel/rag will have black residue on them" & thats how you know the polish is doing what it's suppose to do.
-9. Finally wipe off Polish or whatever your using with a clean soft towel, cloth, ect.
-10. Your done (stand back & see the mirror effect) & have a beer!

P.S.- if your still having second thoughts about following my steps, "GOOGLE" is your friend & you will find I followed the same process as alot of other people did.

GOOD LUCK & BE PATIENT!!!!
