Ok I just did a ls vtec swap in my 1998 ek civic. When I put water in my car and let it sit the temp hand is fine, but when I drive it the temp hand creeps up and start running hot. It has a new water pump, head gasket, ARP headstuds and its still running hot. Any suggestions?

a temp sensor doesnt just read hot, either it determines the temp or nothing at all. i would make sure the thermostat is not stuck close, that would cause it to over heat and many other things, is ur radiator fan working. did u properly bleed the system to let any air bubbles out, this would cause it to overheat. start by eliminating possible causes

I have not change the thermostat yet. The temp sensor I am using came out of a car that was working good.

Was the head shaved before installing or did you just slap the head on?
If you did , the head could be warped .....

Is the upper hose building a lot of pressure???

You should do a coolant pressure test

I would remove the thermostat and leave it out and try that if it runs fine and don't get hot then replace with a NEW thermostat .

Yes the head has been milled and the block was honed. I am going to try to take the thermostat out and see what happened.
