Recently picked up this CLEAN AND GREAT CONDITION. I also picked up some wheels 13X7.5 0-offset HD RSB's 4x114.3 w/ sumitomo htr 90% from shoob which will be on when I lower the car even more. Currently saving for an alarm, power locks, power steering, and switching out the tan interior for black from my other celica. But the black needs to be redone.
Other plans, TRD lip spoiler, and fiber glass from FOXAU from 1stgenCelica.
Later down the line a 1uz, with 240rear subframe. but thats DOWN the line.

I have the engine that's supposed to be in the car. Don't ruin it with a V8, grow a pair and get an 18R-G.

Yea, John swapped battery with me so I can go pick up my wife. and we found the problem. My alternator was not putting enough power to power my ignition system which drained my battery at a fast pace. So i need to retro fit a new alternator soon.

1g-gte 2.0 twin turbo engine is desirable swap for the 1st gen celicas. I still have mine that i bought from Mainstream performance. It's sittin inside 74 celica but not mounted. Space limited in the 74 but the 76-77 celicas have ample room for this engine. Im going to put the 4age back in that it was setup for.

Im taking the 1ggte out and will sell it. When i finish celica with the 4age im selling it also. Im downsizing, sold my stock starlet 2 weeks ago. Want to sell ae86 sr5 hatch with 3tc or as rolling shell.

You guys talking 1ggte out of a supra? If so why not the other usual suspects (7m, 1j & 2j)?

To be honest I don't even know if those are front or rear drive but I've always liked the look. They strike me as a japanese version of the old fastback mustangs.

Mine is a coupe. the motors u mention can fit the 76-77 celicas a lil better but a lot of modding and fabbing that the 1ggte wouldnt need in those year cars, less room in the 74 eng bay though. If i had my pick i would go 1ggte or 1jzgte. If i ever got crackhead deal on 2jzgte i would put it in Mk2 P type supra instead, more room and weight, and i would guess more rigid chassis to take the torque.
!ggte comes in rhd supra, cresta and soarer. I wouldnt mind 1ggte in Ae86 hatch at all but that requires alot of fabbing and if i want to keep car well balanced for handling I would have to cut up the firewall and move engine back thru it.

Yeah the only thing I didn't so much like about the jdm motors (1g, 6m, 1j) was that there is really no aftermarket for them here as far as basic replacement parts (at least that I know of). I bought an 86 p-type a few years back as an autox project, stripped the interior and wound up daily driving it for a year when the 7m in my mk3 blew up (what a cold ass winter that was with no heat or insulation). I plan on buying it back at some point and doing a 7m swap due to the ease and availability.

None the less props on the old toyota love. I'm glad to see some other guys sticking with these cars.

1ggte can use parts from 1jz and 7m like turbos, starter, alternator, injectors, maf. And the flywheel/clutch/pressure plate from 22re, u can put w58 to 1g bellhousing, which i have. Have eng, eng wire harness, hks knock off bov (might even be an Hks), w58 trans, 1g auto trans, some misc intercooler piping from ka24det, 3 inch ihi downpipe with bung sensor for ka24det which i wouldve modified for 1g if used it, sell all of it or trade for rims with cash on top or extended cab truck.
Im always gonna be a yota freak.

Is the w58 built? I always thought that was the r154's wussy little brother in terms of what power it could handle. Looks awesome though.

Your car is cool as the other side of the pillow.

Dont listen to these pussies... v8 makes everything better.

It all depends on how much power you want to push and gear ratios etc... The r154 can hold so much more power, but its too long and will force me to make clearance to the tunnel. The w58 can hold a good amount of power and it snugs pretty well in the tunnel. Also the shifter will be in the stock location is also a big plus to me. I don't want to have to cut up the tunnel and the shifter for the r154 is 3 inches back. Im not trying to push 600 plus horses. My goal is 450rwhp with twin turbo with mildly built internals in the future.

lol agreed. I think my choice is suitable to my needs in power, torque, and the way it looks, it scream v8. I mean I can always go with a aluminum ls1 but I can't afford them, and also I want to keep it in the toyota family.

Awesome car you got there buddy, i like that u got the smiley bumpers on it, the 1uz is a awesome choice, if what u r looking for is a nice street play car/cruiser touring car, trust me for a track car a hi power 4 bangger would be way better just for the weigh balance on the car, but there is always a way to make it work remember a drift car don't care about that a track time attack car does,
And i wouldn't drift such a beautiful piece of history like the one u just got there, nether damage the rear suspension converting it to IRS but that is just me.

Pss
In other tone, someone said that your car has more engine bay room than a older RA22, i just want to tell you buddy that;s completely false, and not true, this car and any Celica from 1971 to 1977 are the same.

Thanks for your time guys, ohh and by the way nimbus anything or any help just let me know buddy, will be my pleasure to help you with anything.

Change of plans actually with the IRS. Found a 1st gen supra rearend and will be using that. My pockets isn't as deep as it use to be. And me drifting it won't be extreme. She will only see an open parking lot. Not street or course.

As for help, I have some things in the future that I may need help with. Like rear coilovers, helping me find a solutions to paint my interior black, and updating all my gauges.
