Now I need to figure out what I am going to put them in? I welcome all suggestions. These are the 35A IRL VRH35ADE/612. I will be converting these from methanol to 93oct or E85. I would love to put one of these in something light weight or an start a rat rod project. I can't wait to spin these SOB's to 10,000RPM's. Let me know what you guys think.

An RX3 would be sick, but they are kinda pricey last time I checked XD, If hes down to spend the money, id say get an older RX3, if on a budget, gogo rx7 =-p

The Focus would love to have one :ninja:

Isn't this initially the same motor as the new McLaren MP4-12C?

I like the RX3, 510 and the 280Z idea. The old school platforms are great. Those are good ideas.

As far as how I got them, I have a close friend that works for some of the teams. These became available and are a rare find so I couldn't pass them up. I figured I would sort out what the hell I'm going to do with them afterwards....lol

Not sure about the McLaren question?

I say 280z, g35 or S14. Don't want something SUPER light (miata) because with THAT much power, traction is going to be your weakest point.

those being methanol motors they must be little a bit older, indy runs on basically 100% ethanol now it think. Seems like a cool idea I just wonder what the maintenance on them will be....
Nevermind....i bet most guys would be happy to get 500 miles of hard driving out of their heavily modified motors LOL.

I thought it would be a really trick motor to have or build something around. There are NO more of these motors being made or around and the value has only gone up. If anything else it will be a great investment or a really cool coffee table. :)

I would suggest something that can handle the motor at its best! The older cars are good, but it comes to a point when it may be too much for such a light car, and you wont be able to enjoy the motor the way it needs to be!

RX7 FC/FD
RX8
300ZX Z32

either way its gonna be bad ass! lol

You might be on to something. From what I understand though, it would have to be a R33 or R35. Wouldn't want to destroy a R35...let me rephrase that, I don't have the balls to do it..lol

I don't think I'm going to need it. For data acquisition the Motec, AEM, etc should work fine... we are working on all of this. Good point though!

I was thinking about keeping them close to their heritage. That's why the Skyline was attractive. Back in 2004-2006 there were talks of putting this into the new GTR. They obviously decided against it however, that doesn't mean we can't try.

If you ever get this to work, I'd love to learn more about this swap. I've been looking at Judd Racing for their V8 for my G35 but this would be a much better choice, to keep it in the family.

I would advise against putting it in a Skyline. The Government is tracking down all the ones without a MOTORex approved and vin'd R33's and seizing them.

Motorex R33's are going for 50k+

Not really. Still gathering the proper software and parts. This also took a back seat to another project. However, every time I go to a car show I always think about which chassis would this go into. I keep going back to an old rat rod truck or something. I think it would be funny to fire up an old car like that and hear an Indy motor sing. lol

My questions is why even change them from methanol? It can be had and would make it that much more appealing. I would think its safe to say that whatever platform it is installed into, its not going to be a daily driver, right? Dont fix what isnt broken.

Update on these...it's been a while.

I'm having supports made and turning one into a coffee table for a man cave.

The other one is getting rebuilt, detuned (a little) and turning into a pump gas motor for a hotrod.

I wanted to approach a GTR race shop and see if they are interested in procuring one of these. Would be cool to get this back into an Nissan/Infinity.

Will update with pictures of the table earlier than the rod since it will be completed first.

Hope everyone is well!
