I am thinking about putting on an event at tally sometime this summer. For those that don't know me, I hosted the Santa Run event there and had a huge turn out, even for bad weather (32 cars).

The plan is to run the event as a one day track event. There will be instructors (ie myself, and a few others) for people interested in learning or improving. We will also have a timed event for those that would like to run. Classes will be broken up into FWD-S, RWD-S, AWD-S, FWD-R, RWD-R, and AWD-R. Pretty much only rules are if your running the S (street) class, you must run on a tire with tread rating of 180 or higher, and R (race) will be race tires less then 180.

This event will be for a fund raiser to support something, not really sure yet. The Santa Run events have been for Toys for Tots so we shall see what we can do. Entry will be a max of 60 cars and around 2 hours of track time depending on how many people show up.

We will be asking for shops, companies and individuals to sponsor the event so once we get a date together we will be asking for your help. If you are interested, please message me now.

Any suggestions, questions, etc., feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Matt

Awesome thread. Lots of potential for this to grow. People this is your chance to get on the track and get some cheap instruction for a good cause. Count me in

Thanks Ian. It really is. Santa Run we were able to give 80+ toys to Toys for Tots which really meant a lot to both the kids and the fire department. Its nice being able to help those that need it and have fun on a track at the same time.

We will be getting a date here in the next two weeks, full schedule, sponsorship opportunity, entry fee, etc. If there are any questions, feel free to ask. Even if you think its a dumb question. Everyone has to start somewhere...

I would definitely be down for this.. I would say May/June... July is just HOT; especially out at the track.

shoot yes. :) I learned many, many valuable lessons yesterday (most notably, trying to keep my foot out of the gas when the car is sliding). My next move is to remove the front sway bar since i can't afford a limited slip at the moment.

Well like any FWD car, you want it as stiff in the rear as possible. I ran 700lb rear spring on my 1986lb civic. Use the rear end to steer the car and the gas to get it going straight. Listen to the STS cars next event. Gas, lift and turn in on entry, rotate and back on the gas. Next event I'll be sure to come say hey.
