Well I bought my civic about a month ago from a member here. Well I have a quick question, when I get to the upper RPM's it spits out a lot of white smoke. In the past 3 weeks I have had to add 3 quarts of oil. What can be the problem? Also it lags in 2nd gear. It will reach a certain point then almost feel like the power kicks back in, any idea's? Thanks

Chris

well if its smoking i deff would not get it in the upper rpm's

it could be your rings or valve seal's

high rpm=high pressure

plug your plugs and see how much oil is on them

I pulled a couple of the plugs not to long ago and there was a little bit of oil on them.

Brad where is your shop located?

you know the motor is almost gone if its smoking real bad,,,

whatever you do dont pay a shop ALOT of money for them just to tell you its about to go too,,,

you know the rings are bad if they are letting oil get threw to the plugs.

when you get on it, it builds up pressure and pushes oil past the rings and gets on the plugs,
then you shift, rpm's drop, you loose spark and oil builds up on the plugs,
and when you try to get on it again it bogs bc of the oil on the plugs
until the heat and spark burn the oil back off the plug then it picks back up.

now is it white or bluish white? white usually mean blown head gasket and bluish white are the oil rings.
