The law will most likely apply to you as a 20 yr old, because that's when you were given the citation. Best bet would be to get a lawyer and try to get it reduced or do community service instead of a suspension IMO.

Yep. You will still loose your license because the violation occurred when you were under 21.

I lost mine in december. lol

It depends where you are because when I got tickets (in atlanta) I was put in this program called TLC and depending on what my ticket was and how serious it was depened on what I have to do? For example, I would have to do community service, with 3 different driving classes, and go back to court a couple months later and if completed, my charges would be dismissed. Again, it depends where you live and how serious the ticket was. Good Luck though

I just got done dealing with a nice 100 in a 65 ticket in Cherokee County.

I paid a little bit more than I wanted to, no jail time, license suspension, nothing. Just some community service and a fine.

I love lawyers.

Did he lower it or anything though or did you still end up getting the 4 points? Thing is that the judge doesn't suspend your license....DDS does

The only person that can stop the DDS from suspending it is a judge. If the judge didn't take his license in the court room and he didn't sign any suspension papers, hes good.

No sir. If this is an automatic suspension, not even the judge can help. Later, QD.

qd is correct my brother was charged with racing and in court he only got a fine, defensive driving and community service. Two weeks later he got a letter from the dds, 6 months suspension.

yeah DDS will suspend it even if judge says or doesnt say ...ultimatley dds has more control when it comes to those things..although sometimes ive seen people get duis and their licenses never even be suspended..they waited 6 out of their year suspensions and it wasnt even suspended to begin with ... lol ..

This.
I was in the exact same situation last year. They base it off of how old you were when you got the ticket. Go ahead and take defensive driving, community service, etc.
Try to impress the judge as much as possible. You will still lose your license most likely, since it is an automatic suspension, but it may keep the judge from giving you any other punishments.

Oops... didn't see this post lol.
Yea, you definitely got lucky!
I basically had all that, except the probation, plus a 6 month suspension.

The violation goes into effect the day it's settled...not the day it's written. Just as tickets are removed from your record as of the anniversary of the conviction not the day it was written. Get a ticket before you turn 21, and go to court after you turn 21 then you are under the rules of being 21. Been there with this exact situation in Lawrenceville.
