View Full Version : HOW MANY MPG DOES YOUR GSR DO?

hey guys, im jus curious as to how many mpg your gsr gets in your integra. because mine seems like it sucks balls, in fact i did a test. i filled my tank completely up, drove 80 miles, then filled it completely up (to the same spot) recorded the gallons and divided the miles and it came to around 19.5 mpg. the car has, i/im/h/e stock head and block, untuned (dyno curve is smooth).
while doing the research (thats the reason i told my friends i was driving so slow, lol) i feathered into the throttle and shifted @2-3RPM city and highway.

so my question is How many mpg does your gsr get?
p/s i also calculated with a full tank (13 gallons) i would only get around 250 miles a tank..how many miles do you guys get with a full tank?

I get 300+ out of mine completely full and I never let my gas light come on I bet I could get closer to 330+

PS I shift before 2700 everytime and never EVER come close to vtec

yea, i figured hard accelerating and high reving deteriorated the gas mileage, so i stayed away from them both, but still got only 19.5 mpg...
maybe its the Skunk2 IM, RMF, and the cat-less exhaust contributing to the poor mpg?
what bolt ons do you have?
also nice car, what suspension is it lowered on?

Mine is bone stock lowered with dropzone springs. Nothing special just something to drive.

oh, i see. i guess despite these bolt ons claiming you gain mpg, it decreases mpg...that or there's somethin's wrong wit my whip, lol.

Thats crazy I can set my cruise at 80 and still drive 300+ miles on one tank.

yeah i think that there could be something wrong with your car. i only have a ls which is pretty much the same as what you have besides vtec and since youre staying out of it then its the same. i have the same mods as you do and im getting 33mpg and my car is untuned. when is the last time you did a tune up?

The lack of tune must be killing you. I have a gsr in an eg hatch and I get 34 average with a lot of highway driving. I get a little higher all highway and obviously a little lower all city. But never 19 mpg. I'm tuned on a s100 though.

I don't have a GSR so the question is irrelevant to me.

i get 330 out of my 11 gallon tank.

you have some problems if you get 20 mpg out of a stock integra.

What ecu are you running? Yes being catless id hurting your mpg.

yea, i never stay on the highway that long to find out.

the only thing that is the same i would say is the displacement.... plus you have to use premium in a GSR, what do you mean by tune up?

Your IM still runs on your stock ecu. Stock throttle body, fuel pump and injectors?

This thread raises my interest. Lately I haven't been getting great mileage either on my LS/VTEC (tuned by Scotty) w/ a GSR tranny. I have an 11 gallon tank and I could do 300 miles a tank (mix city/some hwy) when I had an LS trans but once I went with a GSR I only get about 250 a tank (mix city/some hwy) which is an avg of 23 MPG. I would say if I did all hwy I might get 25 MPG but definitely not 30, which does suck. I don't VTEC that often but I don't baby the gas pedal either.

i had a EJ2 civic with a US GSR and US GSR tranny, i made it from Atlanta GA to St Petersburg FL on 1 full tank of premium

the car is pretty much stock with a few bolt ons. i only run premium gas in mine. by tune up im talking about when is the last time you replaced your spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil? also in the other thread you posted that you burn about 1qt every 1k miles, that would have something to do with why you are burning so much gas. you motor is not healthy at all and i would have it looked at. it could just be the tune but i wouldnt bet on it depending on how long you have been running it like it is with a stock tune.

How are you calculating the mileage? I your not filling it all the way up your not getting a acurate number. Also if your after mileage you need to put the stock intake manafold back on. The secondary butterflys help with mileage and low end tork. PUT THE CAT BACK ON ASAP this will kill your mileage. also try advancing the timing a bit.

yea my civics(y8) gas mileage went to shit too once i put a test pipe on...

either put ur cat back on or get a tune!

i highly doubt you get 34.

weather can contribute a little too. this cold weather made my mpg decrease a little in my honda fit too. around 2-3mpg than summer time.

It really depends on the driver. If the driver has a heavy foot than the car will consume more gas and also lower the MPG.

what size wheels you have? are the tires inflated to the right pressure?

Dad's G37 Cov't trip computer says AVG: 16.7 mpg and it hasn't been reset since he got it. Your getting the raw end of that stick for sure, being that you have the small engine AND bad gas mileage.

My accord does average 25 mpg, and when I was in college - 680 mile trips returned 34 mpg. 1 and 1/2 tank from here to Marion, IN.

Just have a shop take a peak at it, sure seems like it wouldn't hurt!

Then you would be wrong. I never said I had an LS trans which I do. And I've calculated gallons put in and miles for at least 3 years.
