So how about this crazy Georgia weather?

Publix shelves are getting dry...

People are stocking up on water..

Gas stations are packed...

Supposedly going to be some big storm, nothing like the last few years.

We shall see...

If it is nasty as they are saying, I am taking an extra day off this weekend. I'm not putting up with you crazy ass Atlanta drivers on nasty roads.

I might do the same. It's tough enough driving a semi in good weather Atlanta. I'm certainly not going to chance it in snowy/icy conditions. Later, QD.

I work for Publix, my store on a typical Saturday makes around $80K. Today, we made ~$140K. I'm kinda hyped for this storm if it means some snow drifting in the Publix parking lot.

Since they are saying that we will get snow, all we will get is rain - as always.

haha this is light snow in my eyes. new york snow storms are where you learn to drive.Driving in snow... Even "New York" storms ('cause everything in New York is hard-core, even the snow) is nothing like the slush and ice we get here. Problem is here the snow hits the ground, melts and then re-freezes. Even a New York taxi cab driver can't drive on ice.

^^^ Yup. Snow is snow. The snow in Atlanta is no different than the snow they get in New York or Mt. Baker in Washington. It's when the snow starts to melt and then freezes that messes up driving skills. And just like snow, ice is the same from here to there. And there is no particular skill to get around not having traction. Later, QD.

As previously pointed out, snow is snow and ice is ice. The real difference between Atlanta and NY, or Chicago where I am from, is that up north they have the proper equipment and supplies to take care of the roads (when the union says its ok to do their job). Down here in Atlanta they simply drop a little gravel on the roads and call it a day.

Don't like Georgia weather? Just wait a minute....it will change.

My problem is the we ( the company I work for ) do Hapeville Fire Rescue backup and Grady EMS also calls us for backup. I have to work in it regardless.

all im saying is growing up in new york next to the lake im use to driving in massive amounts of snow you think we have like 900 plows there all lazy and dont care about the roads. i am just saying i have more knowledge in driving in the snow then the horrible drivers down here not including people from here but older people here who have no idea how to drive. its funny watch people stomp on there brakes when they slide on some ice down here haha i laugh at those people.

And I'd like to know why people freak out and buy "bread and milk", two of the most perishable items on the shelf. How about buy beer ( Mtn. Dew for QD ) and steaks and we can grill out or something. :dunno:

DING DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!! If you remember the freezing conditions we had a couple of weeks ago, I had to drive up to Buckhead and pick my gf up from the restraunt she works at in her Porsche at like midnight ish. Well needless to say there were people sliding all over the connector and to make matters worse, every on ramp and off ramp from University Ave all the way up to 17th street was shut becuase they had frozen over and people were sliding around bouncing off the guard rails because the roads are not taken care of as well down here as they are up north.

Just bought 80 LBs of salt for my driveway.

Yeah. That was a "bit" too much. I did my driveway in under 5 minutes with a fertilizer spreader... Used about a 1/4 of one 40 lb bag.... I'm gonna do my whole street tonight once I have a few drinks to friendly me up.

Simple things for simple minds here or maybe it's because I am tired and here at work but.....

from the home screen here, this was the last thread posted in and the title "Crazy ass Georgia weather" went along great with Got Milk?

Not sure why that was amusing to me but :dunno:
