WTB: Need a good DD for under $2000

My wife's car just took a dump. Motor lost compression, probably done in its life, so we ended up selling the shell. She needs a good DD to drive, something that will last a good bit, but something that has a cool factor to it.

Right now we are looking at E30's and 240's since they are pretty bullet proof. Mazda RX's are welcome as well as Miata's. Basically no lifted trucks, Buick Roadmasters, or anything that has been abused.

I forgot about Subie's. I love them.

All vehicles will be subject to a rigorous PPI.
