I had a 180hp 1.8t and dyno'd 193hp/ 245tq to the wheels with an APR chip. These motors kill the VR6....mod for mod......

typically manufacturers HP #s are crank HP and not wheel horsepower... youve picked up some power along the way to be putting out those kinda #s to the wheels... very nice

210/230 with chip and cai is way off.....

i personally have yet to see any dyno numbers w/stock turbo over 200 at the wheel with chip & CAI. 210hp with ko4 i would say yes.

TQ numbers can easily be higher(230+) with chip and CAI. ...CAI really don't net too much pwr on our cars. well with my exp.

Your Dyno numbers are impressive. Non AWP's stock are rated at 150 at the crank. i think!

200+ whp with chip and intake? danm what chip? what intake?
i did say -=personally=- have yet to see any dyno numbers. Anyone got a dyno of just chip and intake? that is hella pwr... (around 50 whp gain on chip and intake) danm, what would happen if they add exhaust and other bolt-on? wow...

^ ya most i know already have more than just cai & chip... you need the dp & exhuast to yield higher #'s for sure, but we'll see...

Chuckster, EuroTech is sayin right, but that Tq # is so-so at best. GIAC always seems low TQ #s to me.
I'll say it again, in case some didnt see it before,
My 03 jetta 1.8T APR chip and K&N oval cone filter = 209.6 WHP and 259.2 WTQ at DynoLab 12/27/03.....and a 14.1 @100. No other mods, not even DV, mounts , or nada.
Now I have much more and need to dyno it and see what I really bought.

You're kidding right?

180hp 1.8T is like 155-160 whp. ;)

And this was two years ago with just a panel filter and chip and a faulty N75 valve....nothing else.

DP and exhaust will open her up for sure.

that is an 11-13% loss, wow, i was expecting more power bc of what mine only had a 2% loss; which would of made like 176 on your car if that was the case. glad i bought the 2001 over a newer one.

crappy hp number. compared to what??? those are base numbers w/ no ups what so ever... i don't think many cars in that price range come too close to those numbers.

00CIVICSI
04-04-2005, 11:50 AM
Whats the price range?

Chuckster
04-04-2005, 12:19 PM
i got mine for 16000 w/tax, tag and that other BS. 2003 with 20k

but u wont beat that price anywhere else cuz i worked at the dealer at the time

oh yea and that was w/ a trade in that i was upside down in. A 98 GSR with a little over 100k.

Trey

2% drivetrain loss is not realistic. 11-15% is more accurate.

00CIVICSI
04-04-2005, 01:09 PM
heck for 16k i can find lots or car that put down more then that!

4dmin
04-04-2005, 01:10 PM
i paid under 13k for mine used w/ 28k miles... original price was probably around 18+k...

civic si 17+k 160hp
celica gt 18+k 140hp
tc 17+k 160hp

your not going to get another 4banger w/ more power untill you jump up into the 20-25k range, which would include SRT4. but in its price point under 20k there isn't another car that can get 200-250hp & 250-300lbs w/ 1000$ in mods.

03 low miles, great condition(<---ask anybody that has seen my car), upside down on the trade in and that 16k included tax, tag and that other bs(WTF is it called) and this was almost a year ago.

00 civic si, we arent trying to talk you into or out of buying a VW, but for a 180 hp rated car it mods VERY easily, and the power is very useful in the power band, not like a peaky hi rev N/A car. Also the price gets you German quality, and comfort that some cars dont match for $20,000.
BTW my 03 Jetta in OEM form at Reynolds weighed 2900 w/ spare tire in the car.
What this means is it is only a little heavier than a stock 99-00 civic Si, my 99 Si weighed more actually (2990lbs at reynolds) but it was loaded down. If you compare HP to other cars in its class, its close, but compare torque. Also that is on a stock car. It takes ALOT of $$ to get a honda w/ TQ to the 250 + level. I have twice most hondas and acuras WTQ. 0-60 is a run away for me generally, even on 20" wheels. I am not sayin I am faster , because I really dont care, but when taunted for a gear or two, I am more than most GSRs and Sis wanna deal with.

well i'm working on a 3000$ budget, to get everything done on the motor... i'm working on a write for the car at the same time... so i'll have it all up in the next few months.
