So i pulled my head today because I had a leaking head gasket and am about to change it out. when I pulled the head, I found two valves that were stuck open, all others were closed. The exhaust valve from the #2 cylinder and the intake valve from the #3 cylinder. Should these two valves be open like that? If not, whats the cause of it? keep in mind, before I pulled the head I placed the #1 piston at TDC ( honda manual said to) and this is an 8 valve D15B8 head. I also had oil all over my spark plugs when I pulled them as well but im thinking that may be from needing new spark plug (http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2870192#) tube seals. not 100% about that though. Please help, i need to get this thing back on the road, my truck (http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2870192#) kills me in gas!!! thanks for any help in advance!

so if my cam is still in, those 2 and only those 2 valves will be open? because all the rest are flat and the #1 cylinder is at TDC which would mean my cam gear is in the UP position. Just making sure, I dont know s**t about single overhead engines

bc the lobe is pushing the valve open

I understand now. I mean i understood before just havent messed with a single cam 8 valve set up before like this D15B8. Ive never really messed with a D series before so im kinda learning as I go. Im going to rotate the cam and make sure they go back in so I know for a fact they are not stuck open. I posted a previous thread to this one about a funny noise (sounded like a valve to me) coming from the head. I just wanna make sure thats not the issue I was hearing.
