Tampa Bay always poses a threat to the Falcons. Doesn't matter if they are a god team or not, TB, as far back as I can remember, always keeps Atlanta close. A win here will almost certainly put Atlanta in the playoffs, if not first in the division. Three of the final four games (after this one) will be against a combined record of 7-26, lolol. An N.O. loss today (doubtful) will definitely bolster the Falcons first place finish. Later, QD.

wow, both games were close ones. I really dont think the falcons want to see tampa for a third time in the playoffs, I highly doubt the bucs will drop three straight in one season against atlanta. Ryan has really come along, bounced back from throwing two picks to throwing the game winning TD.

I highly doubt Atlanta won't have to worry about facing them for a third time. It's damn near a given that they won't win the division. There are four teams (Giants, Eagles, Saints and Packers) with a better record right now vying for the two wild card slots. We'll see though. This season is about as crazy as it has been in years with all these teams in both conferences hitting up playoff positions. Nothing is even close to being set in stone yet. Later, QD.

Wait, but if atlanta drops one to the saints, they will be tied, so atlanta would still get home field right QD?
Not necessarily. If the Saints beat the Falcons in the upcoming game, and they end up being tied for first place in their division, the tie breaker would be whether Atlanta won both games or the Saints. Since they would both have a win against the other, the tie breaker would go to the team with the best division record. Right now, Atlanta is 3-0 in the division and the Saints are 3-1. The Falcons have 3 more divisional games while the Saints have 2. If these two teams end up tied in that category as well, then you look at the their schedules from the year. You take all the teams that they BOTH played this year and see who won more. After that, it goes to who had the better record within the conference. Later, QD.

We're heading into the nitty-gritty now, folks. I don't see where anything can happen today to put any team in a "locked-in" situation. Only closer. This is the week. An Atlanta (at Seattle) win OR a Green Bay (at New England) loss will result in the Falcons getting in the playoffs. Odds are that the Falcons will win and the Packers will lose. HFA won't be decided because they don't even have the division wrapped up, yet. BUT, if Atlanta (at Seattle) does win this weekend AND New Orleans (at Baltimore) loses, I do believe that Atlanta will clinch the division by way of tie breaker. Here goes yet another weekend of "what the hell is going on here" football. Later, QD.

Also, the Falcons are officially in the playoffs. That's in part by the Giants blowing a 2 touchdown lead to the Eagles.

I wouldn't expect a positive post from you.
And Cutler did it with a different team. And he really didn't do anything. Only one touchdown pass and barely 200 yards passing. And the only reason for the Atlanta loss was because a wide-open Roddy White couldn't hang on to a pass in the end zone at the end of the game. So Cutler wasn't that effective a weapon to say he led the defeat. Later, QD.

I don't think they will. Why? Because if they clinch the top spot in the NFC, they will already have the first week off. So if they clinch against the Saints and start their rest period, they will sit out the the next week (Jan. 2) and they would be off the following week (Jan. 8, the first week of playoffs) and wouldn't be back on the field until the next week (Jan. 15). They aren't going to want to have their starters resting for 3 weeks. I think what they will do is play the last game like a preseason game. Put the starters in and out throughout the game. Then they'll have two full weeks of practice and rest. Later, QD.

With the Falcons playing the Panthers the Saints game meant nothing unless you actually believed the Falcons might lose that game. The same goes for the Bears, the game meant nothing unless you thought the Falcons might lose. Saints still have the #5 seed and now the Packers have the #6 seed.

I'm starting to think I would rather play Philly than Green Bay. I bet if Atl just blitzed the shit out of Vick we could shut him down enough to outscore the Eagles. Green Bay's defense is just so much better than Philly's, and Aaron Rodgers is going to show up bigger than Vick will this year imo.

Exactly, some people rarely realize that at the end of that game the Falcons players still left with millions of dollars in their pockets, no matter the outcome. Even when they were down I thought about staying just to support a home team that had an overall great season, but to go out like that was a slap in the face to all their fans. It didnt help either I was surrounded by packers fans where I was sitting. Fucking northerners get on my nerves. Some of the things they were saying to other Falcons fans as the night progressed was a little ridiculous and borderline uncalled for. Its easy to change a channel during a bad game but to walk out of a Dome after a defeat like that is something else.

I'm sorry those type of packer fans, were trash. Real Packer fans have class, and dont trash talk. I have family that has been to lambeau field, and that stunt wouldnt fly in that stadium. Sad thing is if atlanta had the fans like green bay every home game would be a sell out, and there would be a 20 year waiting list for tickets. Third quarter all the falcon fans were dipping out, WTF, that shit dont happen in Green Bay.....

every NFL team has its trash talking type and the so called "classy" fan. Just part of the game man. I just thought it was absolutely rediculous to blame the fans instead of the falcons for getting thrashed.

Nope I didn't say the fans were the blame for the loss, I said the falcons got there ass beat by a better team. You said Packer fans at the game, aka Northerns, were getting on your nerves....

This, and I know its not the fans' faults, Atlanta sucked it up that night. But if we were a real sports city, like the guy above said, these tickets would never have fell into Packers hands in the first place. We play in a dome and its not even as loud as games that are played outside. WTH? And people leaving in the third quarter? Falcons' fans gave up on the team at the end of the first half...if I was a player, and I was down 3 touchdowns and my fans were leaving, I wouldn't give a flying fuck what happened now...I mean why try to rally back and win if my fans don't even care. Pittsburgh fans cared...

I still love my Falcons, and I look forward to next season. I had a feeling our secondary couldn't get us anywhere in the playoffs..... I'm pulling for GB honestly. Rodgers looked like he was fuckin playing Madden against a brain dead 10 year old.
