WAT TURBO?

The engine bay of my FC is pretty cluttered with the hot and cold piping and a combination of Mazda and Camaro wiring harnesses. I like the way the raw valve covers look but the coil packs are in the way. It looks much cleaner without the coil packs on the valve covers so I decided to move them to the frame rails. Just finished it last night. Here are some step by step pics

Oh yea and I have 45$ in the entire deal.

All the supplies came from home depot. Here is where I am at so far.

Each bracket will be mounted on the frame rail hidden out of sight. Will also clean up the coil pack wiring that runs on the top of the motor. Oh yea here is the best part 8)

The design worked out pretty good I think. The coil packs are not any closer to the exhaust than they were before so I dont think heat should be a problem. I also had a size constraint on the drivers side due to the steering shaft so I had to modify that side even more.

Had to notch the bracket for the steering shaft

Both sides roughly complete

A few of the drivers side. Im trying to mount them as close to the firewall as possible. Excuse the rat's nest of wires.

The passenger side has way more room, but they will also see more heat because they are sandwiched in between the header and downpipe.

Here is a little about the process. I ended up buying an Accel DIY wiring kit. I only had to make 3 wires though. I might go back and make the rest at another time. I wanted to make sure that the signal wires were correct and that the car would fire. Sure enough, first crank. I had to extend all of the drivers side coil wires (6wires) and only one of the passenger side. It was long enough when pulled away from the injector harness. Anyways I think it cleaned up the engine bay alot. Here are some more pics.

I also cleaned up the ls1 harness for things that wont be used. There were two connectors, one red and one white, that I tucked and also cut back the MAF wiring since it wont be used.

Thanks guys. It was about 8 hours of work total and 44$ total. Hopefully the heat from the manifolds will not cook the coil packs. I built a heat shield for the passenger side.

Holy crap, awesome work!

I still think it's awesome to see a boosted LS1 in an FC. :goodjob:

boosted LS1 alone is fucking sick, boosted LS1 in an FC is ridiculous.
