Okay so I recently got an S2000 where the interior lights would not come on in the "ON" or middle position of the switch. After replacing the bulbs, checking fuses, and checking the power and ground of the switch I decided to take the switch apart to try to fix the problem so I didn't have to buy a new assembly. I found heavily corroded contacts inside the switch that would not read continuity. After cleaning them the lights worked.

This is how to clean the switch. Although this is an s2000 you should be able to use this general idea for other cars as well. Hope this helps some people.

1: Remove the lens using a small tip screwdriver in the front slots.

2: Remove the 2 8mm head bolts attaching the assembly to the car.

3: Disconnect the electrical connector.

4: Remove the 2 Phillips head screws on the switch.

5: I lightly used 1500 grit sand paper to remove the corrosion from the contacts. This picture was taken after the cleaning process. It was covered with green everywhere.

After your satisfied with how everything looks reverse the steps and reinstall. Best of luck and hope I save some people some money.
