I might be getting an Ls block from a buddy with the choice of LS or GSR pistons and rods.

The motor is going in my wife's Del sol and will stay naturally aspirated, with just a header, exhaust and intake.

This has to be a VERY low budget build with no money to spend on machine work or extra parts.

So, which pistons/rods combo should I go with AND why?

Thanks, for any help or suggestions.

Well you can't use the gsr rods in an Ls block without using a gsr crank. But the gsr pistons will yield higher compression so go with those.

So, the GSR pistons on the Ls rods?
Will they go together without any machining?
Any idea what the compression will be?

Why try to build something.. with a VERY low budget... and NO money for machine work?

Well, her z6 is blowing smoke and going through oil like the rings are bad.
We've got the money and parts to rebuild a stock Ls motor.
I'm just wondering if the GSR pistons would be a better choice, without having to spend any extra cash on machining anything to make them work.

You still need to get a fresh Hone on the block.. and get those GSR pistons put on the LS rods.

The block and crank are ready to go, with new bearings and all.
AND, I just found out that the GSR pistons are already on LS rods.

So, no clearance problems with the GSR pistons and the stock Ls head?
What should the compression be?

^ you wont have any clearance problems...

Not sure of the Compression...

There are alot of variables to see the REAL exact compression....

Cool.
Thanks a lot for your replies and help.
Not like you need it, but I rep'd you for it.
