View Full Version : Vtec/Oil switch Jump wire ?

Has anyone ever done a jumper wire on the Vtec oil pressure switch it self and have no issues tricking the ECU ?

I just put a Wire with a Fuse on the 2 pins on the Vtec oil pressure switch plug it works no more bogging or Rev limit from Vtec code. I am just worried it may fry my ECU or cause a short later...

Use a resistor or inline 10amp fuse. Find out what the voltage is supposed to be read by the ECU on that circuit and put a resistor of equal ohms and you shouldn't have any issues.

Why should you trick it? What ecu are you running? Pretty stupid not to just run a non vtec ecu.

its the stock p2p ecu and if i have to change ecu i also have to change out the injectors and IACV shit

Yeah runs and drove fine i just never new anything was even wrong till i got on it and well it didnt go past 5500k RPM
Now that i did a jumper wire on the Vtec oil pressure plug to close the circuit it runs fine no cut out.
I just dont want it to burn the ECU or short out

If i change to a non vtec ECU like the P2e it will need a 3 wire IACV and injectors will be to big for the ECU since they are Y8 injectors

If you don't want to fry the ECU, use a resistor of equal voltage to what the ECU reads at the VTEC switch and you should be fine.

Right now i have a wire with an inline fuse....Where can i get a resistor for it ?

The VTEC solenoid is a on or off thing. When not in use, it reads a constant ground and the receives 12volts at 50+psi oil pressure. Try to get ahold of a vtec solenoid that will plug into it and tuck it away somewhere out of the way. that way it always sees a constant ground.

EDIT: doing this you may also run into a problem if the switch is electronic as opposed to mechanical. if the ecu gets a signal from an oil pressure switch, it sends the signal to the vtec switch and it may cause a code if the vtec switch isn't serving its function.

I had read on google a person said to ground the plug to the chassis you think that would work ?

Yeah so i just don't know what to do i mean it is a closed circuit with the wire and it only tries reading when i get around 5500 for vtec .
So maybe it won't do no harm as it is now maybe...lol :(

Maybe consider a simple chip and tune on that ecu to rid it of VTEC and get everything flowing perfect.
