Ok I just finished up my b16 turbo swap into a eg.

I've had it running before. idling for a few seconds, then it just died for some reason.

it's getting fuel and spark. it turns over, and everything just WON'T start up for some reason. it's really close to starting though.

any ideas?

Check timing and compression

Are we sure it's getting fuel and spark?

timing is good, compression is good.

and i know for a fact its getting fuel. spark plug wires are getting spark, starter is good, etc.

Check all grounds...

And what did you do, To make sure you had fuel?

yup all sensors plugged in.

ok, i'm no electrician.. lol. theres a ground from the negative terminal, can I just bolt it up to anywhere on the frame? and theres another ground from the postiive terminal, thats hooked on the starter.. it started fine a few days ago. now its close as hell to starting but it wont.

and I took the hose off the fuel regulator, fuel was coming out

That wouldn't be a ground coming off the positive terminal. What about the ground on the transmission that goes to the chassis or the ground from the valve cover to the chassis?

the ground from the transmission is not hooked up to the chassis. (i'll do it tommorow) and theres a grounded bolted from the valve cover to the chassis already.

If you have a minute to type a reply, you have half a minute to bolt that ground to the chassis. Do it and get back to us. :goodjob:

lol, I live with my parents, I'm not gonna try to crank a loud as hell car up right now

Tighten the ground and turn it over for a second or two. If it cranks then you know it worked. Doesn't take but a second unless they are already asleep.

another thing that i did on my first swap..... make sure you lined the dizzy up correcly... if you have to force it in it isnt right... sounds dumb but if its 180* off it may run a little

i had the exact same thing happen before and that was my culprit, i admit to being pretty stupid for doing that but i did it. also the dizzy went bad from that so had to but another 300 dollar dizzy

my buddy put the dizzy on it, put it on wrong, didnt start so I put it on right and it ran

So, is it running now or isn't?

I'm gonna do it in the morning, lol. I have a small like wire/ground that hangs from the frame right ABOVE the transmission? Can I put it anywhere on the tranny? any other grounds?

There is a hole on top of the transmission that a bolt goes into. Ground it there. I think the bolt is a 14mm or something of that nature.

I did that, still not starting

What about the ground on the transmission that goes to the chassis or the ground from the valve cover to the chassis? had the same problem w my teg forgot to hook up the ground from the tranny to chassis same as ur explaining....also if all vaccum lines on the IM arent hooked up/plugged it will backfire and hard to start...

There are so many factors to cover. Too bad he got banned. Otherwise, I would offer to head out there to physically look at it to help him.
