View Full Version : gsr tranny case on a b16 tranny??

i have a 99 si with a b16 transmission, 2 of the 3 studs in my tranny case are gone and its barley hanging in there. i have a torn down gsr tranny at my house and figured since there both b series i could just swap the cases.... well i hope. if you have any clue if this will work plz lmk asap

I'm not 100% but I'm pretty darn sure it'll work. Like vteckidd had his with different gear from different tranny.

thats what i thought cause my buddy has a ls 5th in his b16 i hope it works

The shimming is different for the dif, as well as the bearings. Ideally you would need to take you diff, w/ the outer bearing races and shims and put it in that case.

It can be done, at least on the outer side where the mount is. I've taken a gsr outer housing and put it on an Ls trans b/c the other was smashed. The differential bearings are different and pay attention to the shim in your case now b/c it needs to go in your new one and the outer shell of the gsr diff bearing needs to come out. But as far as gears themselves are concerned that isn't relevant to the case.

well i have a enitre s80 torn down so if some parts need to be swapped over to make it happen then its cool
