ok guys I got a used Kiddracing header from my boy...

I guess he installed it without cleaning it so now some places is bronze(as it should be after heat) and some places are quite ugly like almost straight purple. I would like to know what I can do to bring it back to all Bronze... any suggestions??

a lot of work but it can be done with some polish. Youll need some kind of drill and a polishing bit.

we tried some brass metal polish with a rag today, and it just made it worse, it got all cloudly... do you believe that the blue magic will bring the bronze color back and make it look new? thnx..

1k grit would be better but try a polishing compound and elbow grease first.

Sandpaper is your friend. The purple places are where fingerprints, oil or other foreign material has burned into it. Sand it out - then make sure when you install it you wear some cotton gloves - then it will burn-in evenly.

yeah cotton gloves are your friend on this PITA. just send it off and have it polished ceramic coated, and be done with it.

thanks man... I was thinking wouldnt sanding it make it rust in the future?

i dont think theres much u can do. i tried to do the same things but nothing worked. its because the smudges have been burned in to the metal. gl anyways if u find something that works let us know

all i use on mine is a scotch brite pad when it gets nasty makes it look new again with hardly no effort.

I actualy do paint and body for a living so i got fine and coarse scotch brite . I use the coarse and yea it works fine we even sand blasted the header after fixing a couple things we wanted changed . after that it looked ruff just used a scotch brite brought it back out . Im not sure how nice you want it to be but for a header it looks good and it all looks the same no burnt spots or different shades. I would advise sanding it just my opion .

It's a piece of metal that sits under your car and performs one of the most damaging jobs on a car... I say don't waste your time trying to fix it.
