Alright guys I just picked up a 95 EX (d16z6) a few days ago. The guy I got it from didn't know too much about the car so now I'm just trying to figure out what I have. It's a Td05h (4917801-01 0) I'm not sure how they space the numbers out so.. from what I've googled it's a 14b. Is this a good turbo for a D? Also is there anyway to tell if it's been tuned? This is my first turbo car so bear with me if some of this seems dumb or not make sense

yea bear lol.

I think it's set up for seven pounds. I'll find out sometime this week. How much is safe on a stock block?

Do you have any track times when your car was on 5lbs cm7k24? I'm not sure What's in the motor. Could be completely stock or built but what would be a realistic number if it's stock in the 1/8th mile and 1/4?

a boosted D series civic on 5 pounds would probably run a low 14 lol

Update on car: Everytime I got something fixed, something else f'ked up so we ended up just pulling the motor(today actually) and waiting for a little money to come in and it's getting a rebuild. I'm expecting to be back up and tuned by the end of oct-mid november

if you're rebuilding it, go ahead and get some tuner toys rods, and some vitara pistons and a cheap ebay 50 trim turbo.

You'll make plenty of power.

Yea I'm planning on getting the kit from fj distributors.
-YCP Vitara pistons (75mm / 75.5mm / 76mm)
-Wrist pins and C clips
-Piston rings (Hastings or NPR)
-Timing Belt
-Water Pump
-ACL Rod Bearings
-ACL Main Bearings
-ACL or King Thrust washers
-Full engine Gasket & Seals set--> Its all the gaskets and seals you will need for your engine from the oil pan and up to the head.Metal 3 layer Head gasket (approx .030 thickness)

For $302 I think it's a hell of a deal. Crank was dropped off today to be polished and Block will be going within the next week.

The weak link on the single cam is the rods. Dont cheap out and do this half ass or it wont last long.

Yea I've been looking into rods but I'm not sure if I want to go with the fjr custom length I-beams or with a stock length rod with the vitaras.

Compression with this kit on the D16Y8 engine will be approx. 8.74:1
Using Std. Length Rods (137mm) will drop the Compression Ratio 1 full point.
It's 569 for the kit above with the rods and I think it comes with arp rod bolts too

I read it's a pretty noticeable difference in power out of boost with the standard rods. Also kinda skeptical about the whole viatara's having piston slap because their 75mm pistons are actually 2.9475" so around 0.0045" undersized. The service limit for a D-series is 2.9517"
This is my first build so guidance, comments, criticism are all welcomed...

Being that tuner toys went out of business... (i just found out) While your block is at the machine shop have it notched for H- beams and get some Eagle H-beam rods.

I'll def. Check those eagle rods out. Should I just stay with standard length rods or go with the custom length for vitaras?
