ok so i just replaced my clutch which was a compettion clutch stage 2 that had around 7000 miles on it. installed in january. the lutch completely gave out. 2 of the springs on the clutch had fallen off or broke and just made a mess inside. i didnt really abuse it too bad or burnt it hard maybe a lil every once in a while but nothing drastic. i put an oem clutch in it now and it feels gay. i want to switch back two stage 2 or something. does any one know what could have lead to the clutch dying early and which brand is more reliable or any recomandations. oh and this was on a d series

Do they not have a warranty to defects like that?

hahha clutch feels gay. my competition clutch is still good, yours may just have been bad for some odd reason.

simple fix to that just get a unsprung clutch then dont have to worry about springs falling out.....but ive been running a stage 4 competitions unsprung clutch and it feels and works great burn outs and everything

Best bet is to contact the manufacture and ask them. Not much can be done without a receipt though.

man it just sounds like you need a stronger clutch. If it was defective it should have manifested earlier than that. Since you have no receipt, i would brush it off as not having enough clutch and go one step higher. Or if your bold go down to competition clutch and talk to them in person, maybe offer some kind credit towards a new stronger one.

Doubt any credit will be offered without a receipt. However, you may be able to head down to NOPI and see if they can dig up the receipt.

And that is why I will never use Competition Clutch again, I've had this happen to two CC clutch kits (spring falls out, & one time damaging press. plate). The same thing happened to a friend of mine a couple times too.

Okay guys, if you try and stay away from cheap clutches and save your paperwork. I had a Clutchmasters i tore through in 10k. it was a stage 2, and just simply failed after the abuse i put it through. I am an ASE tech, so i told them i documented mileage and all that happy jazz. they sent me a new one without question. although i was glad to send the old one back. gave the new one even more abuse and its still kicking 40k later. warranties are a good thing. stage 2 ebay and autozone clutches may simply not be of the quality you expect, but you did pay a good but less. all clutches are not the same. they all have different pad and spring compositions, and the less the clutch cost, the less the materials cost to manufacture it.
