Car goes up and down from 1k rpm to 2.3k rpms. I let the car warm up n let the bubbles come out of the coolant. Still doing the same thing. Iacv is cleaned as well. Any suggestions?

check your vacuum for leaks and check your cel, also it could be your ignition timing is off a little

k, well the car drives just fine, but the idle is still goin up n down. the IACV gets hot real quick. i guess its safe to assume its went bad? gonna try n get a new one n see whats the deal

if you question whether the iacv is good, you can use a multi meter to ohm out the sensor. it should ohm (where it has resistance) to over 20 ohms if good (for 4 pins).

for 2 pins it should be between 7 and 13. and over 10000 with a ground and 1 pin

^^not fully understanding how to do that.

i changed my intake manifold to a edelbrock. It was a jdm b16 manifold and it had fast idle valve that will not fit onto the edelbrock. so i plugged up the hose. could this be the cause?

yes, it like a limp mode for idle until it heats up properly.

it can be one of the clamps that open and close everytime u hit the throttle. i went threw hell on my old ef n it was juss a $5 fix

did you bleed your coolant system? bleed all the air out. let it heat up, turn your heat on and add coolant until you can add no more. air in the coolant llines can cause idle surge also.

if you replaced the iacv then it is air in your coolant. if you continually get air in your coolant then you have a slight headgasket problem.

do you have a COLD Start VALVE under your thottlebody if so check that first look at the thotthle body does it have two hole on the side of it cover one at a time to see if problem stops if the one on bottom stops it cold start is bad

if you took the fast idle thermo valve off that could be a problem. if it's a b16 what gen and what ecu are you running, and what obd is it?

just now saw this. its a b16a. running p75 with s300. obd1. yea i took off the fitv

ok, so as im driving. i let the car roll in first gear. it drives itself up to about 2k rpms and then like falls back to 1k rpm

if i unplug the IACV while the cars idle is surging and it continues to surge, would this eliminate the possibilty of a bad IACV?

no, but if your iacv is bad, once the car heats up the surging should stop. if it continues, it is not related to the iacv?
