Also JIC's are highly not recommended for bags. This is because the diameter of the shock for the JIC do not fit with the bags well.

I've heard people using JIC also but they always seems to have problems with it. A friend of mine even had JIC's on bags and he hated it, and changed his setup. UAS told me they highly recommend not using JIC's, these guys make the kits so I'm gonna take their word for it. :goodjob:

kinda disappointed that there was no soldering being done. i mean its a 40+ thousand dollar car with 10k going in to the car. it should be done right and that by solder and heat shrink not crimp connectors period. lots of vibe and rattle in the trunk with that sub and compressors. gona be a shame wen he has to come back for louse connections. other than that the car looks awesome the install is clean and simple. would have matched the amp with the sub but IMO

first off the car may have been 40k new (i own one too so i understand where you are going) but it is not a 40k car now. there was not 10k going into the car a lot less if you could believe it. we have not had any issues with using crimp caps. they are the standard norm in car audio and as far as meac standards crimp caps are fine. nothing in the trunk was crimp capped. the only thing crimp capped in the whole install was the amplifier bypass up behind the glove box and door speakers. we wanted to run new speaker wires to the doors therefore eliminating those crimp caps but that was not within dan's budget so we used existing speaker wire leads. i highly doubt that he will have any issues on his install as we will be happy to help him fix it if anything were to happen due to install error. we've built much more expensive cars with much larger budgets so no worries here.

damn i love those cars nice thread and pics

let me shed some light here. I am the wiring guru that orchestrated the electrical side of this build. I have been doing this stuff longer than most people here have had driver's licences. I have done Soldering, I have done crimping, I have done airplain splices, and just about any other safe and time tested for of wire connection. As was stated from the very begginning, this was a budget build, as in the budget precluded me from running all new wiring through the car. So given that Toyota used a fairly decent 16 ga wire for the speaker output I decided that in the interests of Dan's wallet I would crimp in there, and crimp the other various electrical components. Lets face it I can crimp my connects quicker than any other means, have them be as rock solid as any other means of connection you can come up with, and save the client some money. Face it I don't work for free, and every minute I have to devote to something, costs someone very real dollars. I kinda prefer to be efficient, and save my clients some money while exceeding their expectations. Tony is the same way, which is why he is employed at our shop.

Now let me reasure you that I have not had a single crimp fail in my 15 year career. Let me reiterate that: Never have I had a crimp fail; short or long term. My connections, be it by any means I choose, are gauranteed to last longer than your parents marraige. I'm not being a prick, but merely stating a fact.

Now I have said my peace, and I am not going to detract from Dan's thread any further, this was a challenging and fun build. And if all ya'll liked this car, "then you ain't seen nothin yet" as the saying goes. We, at American Radio, have a few aces up our sleeves that we haven't even shown the world yet. . . .
