How much more money would a Canon 7D have cost?

I really wanted the 7d but 7d's go for $1500 for body only. I got this 50d for a steal, $730 with priority shipping, taxes included brande new and I couldn't justify spending the price of another 50d on a camera that is not twice as good. Although the 7d is a better/badass camera my next upgrade is going to be FF prob in about 2 years or so.

I just got done taking some pictures and wow the file sizes are huge! they average about 20-22 megabytes for each raw photo.

congrats. I would miss my SD card... but the CF does read/write faster. that 50mm 1.8 is pretty good for the price.

A lens to think about for "on the cheep" is the 55-250mm efs for that camera. The focal length is great and with good 400+ ISO it can take some great pictures (though the crap aperture is a drawback).

thanks, when I'm in the market for a zoom lens I'll get the 70-300 I hear it's better, or perhaps the 70-200 f4 if I can afford it then.

I have both cheep zooms. you will want the 70-300is (500ish)and not the sub $200 one... the IS makes a huge difference. the 55-250efs is plastic, but it is a surprisingly good performer (better than the 70-300). the 70-200L I have not used yet, but the 2.8L I have (in this case I'd rather have the 135L prime).

i like 16,000 personally.

70-200 2.8L is indispensable to me
