Well I've been drumming since the age of 3 and not many drummers today are that good but, if you want a see a good drummer...Danny Carey(TOOL). I don't think anyone so far can top him. But good video of Joey. :)

^ he is good but i've seen way better... Brann from Mastadon (formerly in TDITD) & Trym from Zyklon (formerly Emperor)... both are by far the most amazing drumers i have ever seen

How about Jesse Smith (formerly of ZAO) now with GODS? But just because you're fast doesn't mean your good. Most people think that.....

I guess really it all comes down to taste. Sort of like beauty is the eye of the beholder. Good discussion though. :goodjob:

taste is definately one thing but you know being a drummer and having skill is another... there are certain techniques that i would love to see some so called amazing drummer pull off if they weren't in their norm... i think any good drummer can pull off most tricks, but a real good metal drummer definately has the advantage over all - speed teichniques such as blast beats are very difficult to master properly... when i saw emperor quite some years ago before they broke up Tymn is fucking amazing the guy plays a 9 piece kit pulling off everything w/o breaking a sweat, he is pretty amazing to watch, he is almost emotionless when he plays. now brann from mastadon is just insanse, there is nothing normal about what he does... when you hear him live its like he is just doing fills throughout the songs - you wonder if he even has a pattern to what he is doing. good shit.
Neil Peart is good... but i've seen way better.

Dave Weckyl, Buddy Rich, Max Roach,Vinnie Paul, Tony Royster Jr, Neal Peart,Virgil Donati, Jay Gilling,Mike Portnoy, Dennis Muthafuckin Chambers, Steve Gadd are all greats....
Every true drummer knows about all of them. Studio drummer and circuit drummer that do demos are WAY more fucking badass than 99.99% of what you'll ever hear on the radio.
Next time guitar center has a demo of somebody go see it. It will make you rethink drumming. I taught percussion for a few years and you'd play a buddy rich record to a kid with a slipknot shirt on and he'd be like "Holy shit who is that guy? He can play fast as hell!!!" Yeah it's Buddy Rich and thats called Big Band and it was recorded in 1951, so tell your metal bands to shove it like they invented playing fast. And the difference is its not just fast its hard and technical too. Subtle things that only a drummer would recognize.
You all should go to Drummerworld.com and check out some videos by a few of those guys and you see who ACTUAL drummers look up to.
