ok i have a 96 nissan hardbody truck and this only happens when its hot outside. it started last summer and i changed the plugs, wire;s,dist cap, rotory button and fuel filter and it has not done it all winter. well its summer again and its doing it again. i can start it and drive it just fine and it runs good while doing so but when i turn it off, it wants to flood its self out and i have to let it sit for a while. after it sits and i guess cools off it starts fine. i have been told that because my gas tank is in the bed and i have a bed cover on it that the gas is getting to hot? so please if anyone has any idea of what can be causing this, can you help me out?

the fuel temperature should not be an issue... i would check the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator maybe possibly the injectors as well. judging by the symptoms that would be the best place to start...

it should be on the fuel rail it self.. has a vacuum hose attached to it.

check the vent tube and make sure its not blocked. The tank may not be letting the pressure out. If you cant figure it out feel free to give us a call to make an appointment with us.

i would guess some sort of sensor but at the same time if it only does it in the summer that cant be it. you have something weird going on. wish i could help but i would need to have it here to diagnose it.

i checked the vent tube on the tank and its not cloged or anything. the fill neck lays overbecause the tank is in my bed. i will take a picture of it today so you can see what i am talking about. i took the filter housing thing off and there is a bubble looking thing with a resistor looking thing in it on the thing the filter sits on and the plug that goes to it had the wire's broke loose, i connected those back and still does it. is that bubble thing like a temp sensor?

This use to happen to my 92 Prelude and that car got a whole new electrical system trying to fix this problem. Long story short "Main Relay". When it got hot in the summer the car wouldn't start because the Main Relay got hot and wouldn't do it's job. I have spent countless hours searching for parking spots with shade during the summer so I wouldn't be stranded waiting for everything to cool down.

should be in the fuse box under the hood, thats where all of mine have been but im sure google would be faster and correct. but if its that it should only be about 30 bucks and 5 minutes, if it helped that other guy it might help you hell who knows,. wouldnt hurt to try.

yes and solder could fix it but its way to complicated to explain.

all i seen was a fuel pump relay, A/C relay, horn relay and one that said EGI or something like that.

Well in a 92 Prelude it is under the steering wheel in the cabin, but these vehicles are worlds apart. The forum thing Hatmanafro suggested might be best, but also ask them their adivce on your problem as well. Also call the stealership and ask them also, I called the Honda stealership in pure desperation and got a tech on the phone. I described my problem and the first thing out his mouth was "Main Relay" ever since the car starts first time EVERY time.

I had one of these trucks that did the exact same thing. The coolant temp sensor leaked just enough to corrode the contacts on the plug. It is pretty easy to check, unplug the sensor and look for green corrosion. If it is nasty, replace the sensor, clean the contacts and reassemble.
