quick moderately easy question,
ive got a 94 del sol b16,
the ac works great when you first start it up, then about 5 minutes later, the compressor clutch disengages, but the condenser fan keeps running,

another thing, if i let the car just idle, the ac will work allll day, until i rev the car up a little, then the clutch will disengage, but only after about 10 minutes of idling.

ANY IDEAS?

all help will be repped to the fullest!

My a/c problem was kind of like yours. I had a shim inserted on the a/c compressor until i can replace it during ground up resto.... GL

My .02 is you may be bumping up against the low pressure switch... if the system runs low on freon the compressor will shut off to keep it from burning up. At idle you're not building as much pressure but once you start building rpms your pressure increases.

i have the exact same problem....only im in a 94 honda civic ex d16z6.

so the way to fix this would to be put in more freon and oil huh? but when my friend puts his pressure gauge on it, its reading in the red like too much, but the a/c isn't that cold when it actually works

In that case the pressure is too high also shutting down the compressor.

yeah mines not that cold, pressure is reading like 150/20, im thinking ive got a blockage somewhere, but its leaking down out of the pressure hose i just noticed.
