So i have like 200000 miles on my DD maxima but eventually i want to swap in a low mileage vq30de-k but how come I don't see any JDM vq30 engines for sale like sr's and rb's and 4g6's on the websites? is the maxima engine from the mid 90's to 01 a domestic motor?

Yeah i tried that but i only got engines with no less than 120000. i did check jasper engines but they were asking like 2000 for just the engine and no tranny

I will check them out good look whitemaxima but I don't want to drop displacement and lose the torque like what sold me on this car in the first place. (besides other things.) But i will check them out.

There are versions of the vq in japan, vq30de-t stuff like that, the differences and demand just aren't worth importing them. Why do you wanna swap in a de-k? you could save money and labor by putting de-k intake manifolds and fuel rail on a regular de. The only other real difference in the motors are the cooling passages inside the block. Oh yeh and NAD wants 450 for the vq25, it would be a pointless swap though.

Just rebuild your engine, parts should cost you less than 1k. But your engine should last for 400k+ miles fyi.

I was wondering if you guys have any info on a vq30det swap in the max and if it is any more expensive or difficult then the vq35de swap

Yea the VQ30's are strong engines and as long as you keep up on the maintenance, they will last for a very long time.

its really not a worth while swap since you have to first source a de-t and de-t ecu. if your looking for less than 300hp then you could just boost a de-k and get cometic head gaskets and arp head studs and the stock internals will hold. I would like to see how the manifolds on a de-t are setup though.

Or you you can just add an 00VI to your engine w/ full bolt-ons, and probably some sort of FI (supercharge, turbo, nitrous). But if you just want a low mileage stock engine, just get your engine rebuilt, or swap in a low mileage VQ30DE or DE-K and call it a day. Some once did a VQ30DET swap, and it ran horribly IIRC. I dont think too much was heard about it afterwards.

Very true. The OP really just needs to figure out his goals for the car and go from there.
