14 megapixels on a 1/1.7" camera sensor is a complete waste (look up diffraction limit), no matter how good the optics are. The extra megapixels won't make your photos any sharper.

How much are you looking to spend?

200 bux is the budget... so if its a complete waste what else is out there that is better?

The 580 is also the same as my 575 just a zoom difference..

Save up some money and buy a used or older model dslr if you're trying to take great photos. You can find dslr's now for virtually any budget.

If you just want ok pictures for family/friends/whatever then get a pns. I just bought a nikon d5000 for a steal and I can't wait to play with it.

I'll get some more tomorrow....SLR cameras are nice but then you will wanna invest in lenses and it will be well over $200 for camera and good lense

You can get a nice used Pentax K100D dslr kit with lens for under $250 if you look, which is a 6mp, but unless youre going to be doing a lot of cropping it will be fine. I recently picked up a Pentax K2000 on craigslist with the kit lens box and all for $240 which is a 10mp dslr. I picked up both my old k100d, and the k2000 with around 3k actuations on em each, and havent had a problem with either. Have about 20k actuations on the k100 that I gave my mother, and about 13k on the k2000 that I shoot with now. Btw if youre interested just search Flickr.com and you can find many many many pictures takens with k100ds, k200ds, k2000s, etc.
