where did you pull this figure from? it will take months to become fluent with your camera if you've never had a large DSLR. I'm still learning about the settings on my camera and i've had my body or a similar one for almost 2 years.

Probably that grade of camera is what I am use too at this point in time. I know I have got a long way to goal but I am trying to have fun with it and learn as I go. Thanks for your input.

are you shooting in auto? i would say stay away from auto and play with shutter speed and apature and learn it it that way. i have a D90 also and love it but i want to upgrade soon. oh and your pictures look better than some posted on here.

I was using manual focus. I need to learn how to adjust the shutter speed, aperture and ISO accordingly.

keep at it, it will take tons of practice and time with the camera.
this thread proves tho, that just because u have a nice camera doesnt mean you create eye catching shots...

I have taken better pics with a point and shoot.
Honestly, taking pics is something that either you get or you don't...... and I see a lot of people on here who fall under the "don't" catergory. (not pointing at you op, just a generalization)

you also have to worry about composition, METERING!!!, and lighting.
