Well Saturday morning I left for Cali to get my new car. Its a 1987 tan Toyota Cressida. All in all its in great condition for the age. I have found a few bondo spots on it, but thats mainly on the fenders.

The ride back was pretty good, all through Arizona, New Mexico, and most of Texas I had no problem as all. Near the East side of Texas going into Louisiana I started to hit the shitty roads. Then it happened, I got into Mississippi and hit the clay roads. About 20 minutes into Mississippi I hit a pothole and it went through the oil pan. Well this was 2am Monday morning. I was lucky there was a Walmart on the exit I took and I pulled the oil pan off, straightened it out with my hammer intending to JB weld the mofo until I got home. I went into Walmrt and they had no JB weld, so I got some high temp silicone.

Well once I got it all put back together I filled the car with a more heavy weight oil and started off. The car was still leaking oil and every 25 miles I had to pull over and add close to a quart of oil. All in all from Mississippi back to Georgia I went through 8 quarts of oil, but I got her back.

New oil pan is on its way, so you should see this thing around town soon. Here is a pic of the beauty.

very cool, that is the best way to get a new car. By the time you get it home you really know all about it. Sounds a lot like my trip for a cream colored Toyota! When i had a blowout and put on a spare straight outta the 60's there was a wal-mart the next exit. Is it a 5-speed? Besides the busting of the oil pan, how was it riding so long in a lowered car?

it was surprisingly nice.

yes it is a 5 speed

and the best thing is that the car has a resonated straight pipe and sounds like a mean supra with a TON of lag....I had a 350Z and a Cadillac XLR both try to race me in TX. I didnt even try cause I know this thing is slow...lol

its all bark and no bite, you can say. It sound like its about to hit boost any second, but then it never does...LOL

Anyways, I am looking at a getting the 1JZ in the car starting this winter. It all depends on what all needs to be done with the house.

Wait wait wait... you went all the way to Cali to pick up a car?! Or were you out in Cali and just luckily found the car and decided to drive it back? Either way, that's serious commitment. And it wouldn't be a vacation if atleast one thing went wrong lol

Car looks awesome! We should have a 2,000 mile high club. For those that bring cars back from CALI. Are those RWD?

Congrats, I flew out to cali in Aug of 07' to pick up my carnival yellow eg6. It was a blast driving back. My buddy went with me and he drove back his yellow CTR. It was def cool as hell. Only problem I had was my dist locked up as I was parking at Hooters in Amerillo Texas. It cause the engine to jump time on the intake side. It didnt cause any damage cause I was parked, so I had my friend go buy an LS dist from autozone and use the internals in the b16 one, while I put the car back in time in the hooters parking lot lol. All in all it was a great trip, only thin that sucked was threw Arizona and New mexico everything looked the same for hundreds of miles. I would def like to do it again. By the way the CTR of my buddies was featured in the past DEC Honda Tuning magazine, it talks about the trip which is cool. Nice car by the way when I read your post before you left I figured you were getting a Cressida

Awesome story. I can't stand how most people these days won't travel 1-2 hours to pick up a car, so I definitely commend you on a trip to Cali for one!
