I figured I would share with you all a few songs from a couple rappers I enjoyed at the drunken unicorn last friday night. lyrically they have solid songs. its more stories and ballads i guess but i think they have a solid messages most of the time.

to start my list here is a song that had a lot more impact when he (fashawn) did it live. this was about his best friend & gf that he knew - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xt33wnUXhbU

next up is some mildly controversial piece by brother ali, who was the headliner at the show -

and the big single off his newest album "us". he made a huge point at the concert about his whole philosophical take on this -

I know I might seem like a nut swinger of these guys or the rhymesayers label, but I must say this is the kind of rap and hiphop you don't see too often anymore. And to be able to go to a show, shake hands with the artists afterwards and tell them you thoroughly enjoyed the show, and they respond back in a non-cock-ass way is something that isn't seen either. And maybe its just because they are pretty small and don't have huge sold out shows, but to me it stands out. So the next time you need some new stuff, I would recommend almost anybody off the rhymesayers label.

I've said it before, Rhymesayers has the best hip hop lineup right now. POS and Eyedea & Abilities albums were both top notch. Ali is a given, but I haven't picked up Fashawn's album yet.

One of my favorite P.O.S. tracks, his videos are always creative and on point
