im not sure but i think under georgia law you have to be 21 to be able to legally carry a concealable weapon, however i dont think you can be charged for carrying an unloaded gun, so if you leave the clip out you should be fine, ..... but my advice... they got sum real assholes in the police dept, so you might jus want to leave the pistol home until you turn 21 and get a proper license

Isn't the peanut butter dog licking thing from eurotrip?

Something like it's not cheating if there's two girls bc try cancel each other out, or if its in another area code, or if you put peanut butter on your testicles and let your dog lick it off

damn IA server! I dont think my post posted, so here it is again.

Go to Gapacking.org. Everything you need to know about gun laws is there. I saw something on there before but i dont remember bc it doesnt apply to me. I believe it is legal for someone 18+ to own a pistol but cannot purchase. I do not think you can carry it though. The rule about leaving your magazine somewhere else has also been a HUGE rumor for some time now. You can have your pistol chambered. If ya get car jacked, who has time to go find or unlock the glove to get a magazine right? Hope that helps and all you need to know is on that site.

Georgia laws have recently changed so some of the info you find on the net may or may not be entirely accurate. This is not an attack on anybody who gives any helpful information.

Georgia state law states you can carry your loaded firearm on you within the confines of your home, car, or place of work and not require a permit to carry. Your car is an extension of your home as well as you place of occupation is an extension of your property so long as your supervisors agree with you. No firearm is required to be registered in the state of Georgia. However, to avoid any kind of altercation with any law enforcement, take your time to get your license to carry it if you are of the age of 21 or older.

Disclaimer: What I just wrote comes directly from my brother who is an active Atlanta Police Dept officer. Take your time, do it right. and get your license. You are solely responsible for anything on your person and nobody can be held liable for any information that you obtain.

like SIMONTIBBETT said you have to be 21 to even own a handgun legally. But if you are 21 you can carry it loaded in your car as long as it is in plain view, it can't be concealed. Your vehicle is an extension of your home or private property. My advice, just wait until your 21 and get a concealed carry permit.

You do not have to be 21 to legally own a hand gun, you must be 21 to buy a hand gun read the laws before speaking. You can carry a gun any where you want in your own car or home that includes concealed or even stashed in your ass if you so wish, again read the laws. So far they only thing that you have said that has any merit is the part about wait till your 21 to get a license because you cant get one until then. Please know what you are talking about before you go spread misinformation.

You can carry it loaded or unloaded and it doesn't have to be in plain view. New laws state you can have it concealed or unconcealed in your vehicle.

Glocks are good guns but Springfield Armory feels better and has more safeties for those of us that care about that kind of stuff with guns.

You guys really need to read the law before giving advice. Seriously.

Notice the highlighted part please.....

"I Do Not Have a Firearms License. What Can I Do?

Q: I don’t have a GFL. Can I carry in my car?
A: If you are eligible for a firearms license, then you may carry a firearm anywhere inside your vehicle, concealed or openly. You may not carry a firearm in a car belonging to another person."

As a 20 yr old, you are NOT ELIGIBLE for a license, therefore it is safer to say that you can NOT carry it in you car with more certainty. To be on the safe side, wait until you are 21. Then you're good to go.

I don't care what they say, and even if it's completely legal. I wouldn't advice anyone to. If you're not old enough to buy it, then logic says that you shouldn't be old enough to carry it around. Much like the analogy given earlier, that's like walking around with a beer in your hand when you're not 21 and then just saying, "well, I didn't buy it. My buddy who is 21 bought it for me...." What would you get then? What would HE get then? Same logic should apply here IMO.

Again, it may be perfectly legal, but my personal opinion and advice would be NOT to carry it outside your house. It's only asking for head aches.

thats a horrible analogy, its illegal to drink under 21. Not illegal to own a handgun under 21. I never said he could carry it around, i said in the car. It is not illegal for him to buy a handgun, he can purchase a handgun at 18, but it must be a private sale; not from a ffl dealer. Definitely not the same logic. I dont think he should carry it around illegally. But i see nothing wrong with him following the law...

Don't care for glock... I feel like you are just paying for the name. Like Bacon says... personal preference. Oh... And I don't know too many private sellers that won't require that you are 21 just to cover there own ass.. just look in the garage sale section... everyone is asking for I.D. and must be 21

Are you sure you can purchase a handgun being under 21 from a private sale? When I was under 21, I had a handgun and looked extensively into the law and the law states, you can only have a handgun if it was a gift or you inherited the gun when you're under 21 and at least 18. It never said it was ok to purchase a handgun privately. I also don't see how that could be legal when you can get 10 years in prison when you purchase a handgun for someone under 21; that's pretty much the same concept as you are saying..

patrick4588
04-26-2010, 07:12 PM
yes im sure. you get in trouble for purchasing a gun for anyone, not just ppl under 21. The laws are listed as things you cannot do. More or less... unless it says its illegal; you are good to go.

Browning151

Why put yourself in a position to possibly have to deal with legal problems from carrying one in a car wihle you're under 21? You can't walk in to an FFL dealer and buy one or get a GFL until you're 21 so I would be on the safe side, wait until you can get your GFL and then you'll have no worries and no reason for anyone to give you trouble over it. :2cents:

Just out of curiosity, I got shit from a cop one night about my gun being in between my seat and the center (right beside my right leg) because he said there are certain places that it needs to be. Like the center console or dash or something. I honestly think he just doesnt know what he is talking about especially considering I have a license to carry.

Under 21, you may carry a pistol.

In plain sight. It was a gift from your dad. You recently went to the shooting range... IE today/yesterday and have no removed the pistol from your vehicle.

If you wanna one up the safety... Pop the clip out and put it in the glovebox.
