Well it was that time, ive been shooting with a Canon 50d for about 2 years now and I figured it was time to upgrade.
Just picked up
Canon 7D w/ 28-135mm lens
Battery Grip
580 EXII Flash
2 extra batteries
50mm 1.4
100mm 2.8
16GB 533x CF card
Figure this would keep me occupied for a while...lol
I dont have anything to shoot since I am stuck at school and its raining, so here are a few pics from of absolutely nothing....lol
PS- Camera feels solid as hell. Shutter sound is industrial, and so far I am 110% satisfied with the purchase. I cannot wait to get it out to Atlanta one night
PPS- Photoshop CS5 is GANGSTAAAA!!!!!

Nice! I would love that setup...(and would add a battery grip because I am spoiled by a vertical shutter-release button)... the glass that comes on the 7d is a good match, though it might not be wide enough at times. Do you have a wide lens to complete your focal range? I hate that most laptops don't take the CF cards that the 7d uses for a fast card swap download.
How do you like the button locations? I think it would take some getting used to.

Button location is a little different, but like anything I am getting use to it. I do have a few other lenses from the 50D setup, i have a 12-24mm f/3.5 or 3.8 (dont remember) that I LOVE, a 55-250mm, and a 75-300mm. I am looking at getting a few umbrella lights next, and a nice pocket wizard setup as well as one other 580 EXII flash.
I will post up a few pictures from the camera once I get to take a few....also will post up some video from it,

When I played with one at BestBuy. I took some pictures in less than good light at higher ISO, with the lens that comes on it, without a flash and was pleased with the results. my friend commented that its pictures were 'better than real life" because they were brighter ( i cranked up the exposure br/compensation).
Have you played with the orientation focal point settings? You can make the camera's forced focal point settings automatically change by setting up where you want it to be when you hold the camera for portrait and then switch automatically for landscape. (mine would be center point for landscape and upper left point for portrait) I love this feature!

Havent messed with it much. Im more of a center focal guy, I would rather focus then move the camera more than anything....just use to it.
Didnt have time to play with it today, but on a bright side I am uploading my copy of CS5 online right now. It is a RC, so its just a 30day trial, but hell its free. I will post it up once I get it all up online. Keep a eye out for it here and in the computer section

I did the same at first but found that when I set points for focus, I don't have to move the camera as much, a faster more accurate/sharp auto focus is the result... I do shoot repetitive subjects for work though, and know where I will be focusing in frame ahead of time. I will say that this process has carried over to my casual photography and has resulted in better pictures as well.
