IDK who listens to mixtapes, who likes real rap, but Fabolous' "There is no competition pt2" is pretty good lyrically.

Why is Fabolous and "real rap" in the same sentence? Later, QD.

Yeah, there may be some decent lyrics, but that doesn't make him "real rap." I know it's all opinion based, but still...lolol. Later, QD.

IMO real rap is anyone who raps about stuff they've dealt with. 2Pac was real rap.

In my opinion, and from listening to the genre since it's inception, "real rap" died in the early 90's. Starting with Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow, Run DMC and NWA. You have other rappers, Jay-Z, Nas, Outkast, TI and a very few others that popped on the scene, but they eventually turned into pop music rappers. Making music for "Hollywood" and not the street. And I do think that a lot of that came about because of the ever-growing popularity of rap. Execs saw a potential market there and then got in and "fine tuned" it to where it would be an accepted form of music for all listening audiences. Hence rap becoming pop music. Folks like Fabolous, while not bad on the microphone, aren't really termed a real rapper. I would listen to Freeway before I'd listen to Fab. Later, QD.

2PAc also went to acting school and was a nerd his whole life, but a gangsta ass thug at 22. So how is that real rap?

I listened to it, COMPLETE SHIT. It has annoying shout out shit whatever the fuck they're saying and it's the modern rapper "I can't rhyme so I'll make words up" type of shit.

FAIL.
